This season, LSU went to the bowl game they, really, deserved to go to. Last year we made much of how the Tigers fell to the Chick-Fil-A, but the Outback Bowl is a right and just reward for the Tigers' season. What makes it perfect, though, is what happens in the same city of Tampa on the next day. The Under Armour All-America game is played the day after and this year, moreso than in years past, LSU will have numerous star-studded reasons to pay attention. Much has been made about the possibility that LSU could land the No. 1 overall class by various recruiting services and a big reason why that is so is because of the amount of 5-star talent that's thought to be an LSU lean. Head past the jump to see the list of who's expected to announce at the game that LSU is watching. Leonard Fournette - 5*, 247 Composite #2 - First and foremost on LSU's list is St. Augustine's phenom RB Leonard Fournette. At worst he's the second-highest rated prospect coming out of high school and LSU & Alabama, as usual, are the top destinations. Almost everyone is predicting an LSU outcome here. Judging by the fact that the Tigers only have one other RB recruit in this class, LSU is putting a lot of stock in Fournette, but with good reason. He could step in and start Day 1 next season. He's that type of talent. Tony Brown - 5*, 247 Composite #10 - Tony Brown is another stellar DB out of Texas whose sister has already signed a Letter of Intent to run track for the Tigers. Most feel like this puts LSU in the pole position for Brown, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him go elsewhere, namely Texas A&M. I do still think LSU should get his commitment, which could add to the avalanche of possibly 5* defensive commitments for LSU. Speedy Noil - 5*, 247 Composite #13 - This WR from Edna Carr is known exactly for what his nickname implies -- speed. LSU is thought to be in the lead here, but again he's one of the more tenuously held prospects and it wouldn't surprise some to see him pick his other top choice, Texas A&M. Malachi Dupre - 5*, 247 Composite #16 - The second receiver that LSU could receive a commitment from at the Under Armour game. A bigger prospect than Noil at 6-2, Dupre is a closer lock to an LSU commitment. With LSU losing the most dynamic pair of receivers in school history to the draft this season most likely, the additions of Dupre and Noil could cement LSU's receiving options for Anthony Jennings immediately next season. Another guy who can step in immediately (along with Fournette & Noil) and be a factor on offense. Gerald Willis - 5*, 247 Composite #23 - Another Edna Carr product that's a heavy LSU lean and should be grabbing a Tigers cap at the game. Willis is a big-time DT (...who happens to have the same mother as Landon Collins.) who's only listed at 260 right now, but should put on a good amount of weight & muscle once he gets into Tommy Moffitt's program. Jamal Adams - 5*, 247 Composite #25 - Adams is a Texas prospect that LSU didn't figure into much until after we heard about Hootie Jones' commitment to Alabama a few weeks ago. Adams has long been thought to be a Texas or Florida lean, but the shaky coaching situation at both destinations might have him wavering. I wouldn't count on Adams picking LSU, but he's worth watching after giving the Tigers really high marks on a recent visit. That's six possible 5-star commitments just at the Under Armour game, not even to mention other high-level prospects like Clifton Garrett who are all but committed to LSU. It's easy to see why LSU could vault to the top of the recruiting heap if they get commitments from all the aforementioned players. It's why the Outback Bowl is LSU's perfect destination. Every coach & a sea of purple & gold will be throughout Tampa, which can only help LSU's cause. Be watching south Florida closely on January 1st and 2nd.
