Florida Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov left Tuesday night's game against the Buffalo Sabres and did not return, as confirmed by the team's public relations department's official Twitter account. He left the game towards the end of the first period with a lower-body injury.Barkov finished with 5:31 TOI, including 1:07 on the power play. He got an assist on the team's second goal and finished with a plus-1 on the game.By the_mel, via Flickr Creative CommonsThe 18-year-old rookie is having a great first season. He was the second overall pick in last summer's draft. He currently leads the team in points with 23 (eight goals and 15 assists). He's averaging 17:15 TOI and is a minus-2 on the season. It's no surprise that his name is coming up in Calder trophy talks. He has also earned a spot on the Finnish Olympic hockey team.Until we know the extent of the injury, we don't know how this will affect Panthers. However, anytime a team loses their leading scorer, it's never good news.
