The Panthers announced that starting right guard Garry Williams has torn the ACL and MCL in his left knee and will miss the remainder of the season. The news came Monday shortly after coach Ron Rivera addressed the media at his weekly press conference. The injury occurred in the first half of Carolina's 12-7 loss to Seattle after a Seahawks defensive lineman rolled up on Williams' leg. The five-year pro won the starting right guard spot in training camp prompting the Panthers to release veteran guard Geoff Hangartner. Rivera said earlier Chris Scott would likely replace Williams at right guard. It's Williams' second major injury. He broke his ankle in Carolina's final preseason game in 2011 after earning a starting spot earlier that summer.

Stash This Name Away: Kenjon Barner

The Panthers rush attack is a three headed attack featuring Jonathan Stewart, DeAngelo Williams, and Mike Tolbert.  Well, J-Stew is once again on the shelf with an ankle injury and D-Will is slated as the starter.  I can’t forget that Fat Tolbert and Cam Newton is still around to siphon TDs away.   With the Panthers backfield either injured or as old as dirt, could rookie Kenjon...

Panthers’ Jonathan Stewart expected to return Week 1

Earlier this offseason, a lot of attention was paid to the recovering ankles of Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart. While offseason ankle surgeries caused Stewart to be placed on the Panthers’ physically unable to perform list at the start of training camp, head coach Ron Rivera told Panthers.com that he is “pretty optimistic” that the running back will return...

Carolina Panthers WR David Gettis is back on field, looking to make impact

David Gettis looked like a promising rookie receiver in 2010 blowing past defensive backs with his sprinter’s speed and scoring three touchdowns for a Carolina Panthers’ squad that only had 16 offensive scores as a team. Then he was gone. A torn ACL in his left knee at training camp ended Gettis’ 2011 season and a nagging hamstring injury limited him to two games during 2012...

Panthers’ Bruce Campbell requires rotator cuff surgery

The Carolina Panthers struggled to field a consistent offensive line last season. They were hoping for improvement this year, but it appears that it could be more of the same with how training camp has begun. In addition to other minor injuries and ineffectiveness, the Panthers announced yesterday that reserve tackle Bruce Campbell requires rotator cuff surgery, according to Jonathan...

Panthers CB Norman eager to reclaim starting job

Josh Norman is eager to reclaim the starting job he lost last December following a bad game. So far, so good. The Panthers second-year cornerback made a statement Friday night by intercepting two passes and returning one 60 yards for a touchdown to spark Carolina to a 24-17 preseason victory over Chicago. There’s a lot riding on this season for the Carolina Panthers.  Many players and coaches could be playing for what may be their last season with the team if there aren’t significant improvements made. Every Sunday this season (along with a Thursday and Monday night) will be extremely important, not only for this season, but possibly for seasons to come.  While the Panthers...

DeAngelo Williams: The Curious Case of his Rising ADP

2008 was a nifty season for DeAngelo Williams, the Memphis alum went good for over 1500 yards and 18 scores on the ground and added 2 more in the air. He was fantasy football’s best player in standard leagues even while sharing the load with Jonathan Stewart. The DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart duo was great again in 2009, but that was also the beginning of the lingering...
