(Stephen Dunn/Getty Images)David Ortiz came off the bench in the 8th inning last night and extended Boston's lead from one to three runs with one swing, helping beat the Angels, 6-2. The two-run shot was the fifth pinch-hit HR of the DH's career (the first with Boston was also against the Angels in 2003). Felix Doubront had yet another good start—albeit with some rough patches—to nail down his fifth win. He went 6 2/3 innings giving up just five hits and two earned runs. The Red Sox took a 3-2 lead after Josh Hamilton (6 errors on the year) dropped a pop fly off the bat of Jonny Gomes scoring Shane Victorino. Mike Napoli added a solo HR off his old club to cap the scoring in the ninth.

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here...
highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.
Imagine punching into work at 3:30 p.m., punching out at 3:31, and in between earning an Employee of the Month award.
Now you know what it felt like to be David Ortiz last...
Unsurprisingly, David Ortiz is currently the leading vote-getter for the designated hitter position for the 2013 All-Star Game. Ortiz has played in every All-Star Game since 2004 (winning the Home Run Derby in 2010), with the exception of 2009 when he didn’t hit his first home run of the season until May 22nd – he managed to hit 28 homers that season, but most of them came in...
David Ortiz had a pinch-hit two-run homer and Mike Napoli hit his first since early June to help the Boston Red Sox down the Los Angeles Angels 6-2 early Saturday morning.
You gotta love that 1:23 a.m. dirty water.
Shane Victorino scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning when Jonny Gomes hit a two out high fly ball to $125 million dollar man...
While you'd think a team with the most wins in baseball would be chock full of All-Stars, only three Red Sox were named to this year's AL All-Star Team: David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, Clay Buchholz.
To hear the players and managers talk about it, the lack of representation from the squad doesn't seem to matter.
From the Herald:
“Do I want to be an All-Star? Of...
With an 8-2 win over the Padres on Thursday afternoon, the Boston Red Sox wrapped up their nine game homestand with an 8-1 record and notched their fourth-straight victory in front of the largest crowd that Fenway Park has seen all season. Boston starter Allen Webster
Felix Doubront was strong for 6 2/3 innings while the Boston Red Sox scored four late runs, two on a home run by David Ortiz and one on a solo homer from Mike Napoli, on their way to a 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Angel Stadium of Anaheim on Friday night.

It was a strong week on the mound for the Red Sox.
In six games this week, the Red Sox’ pitching staff had a 2.33 ERA with 43 strikeouts in 54 innings. Felix Doubront gets the nod for Amica Pitcher of the Week after two strong starts against the Blue Jays and Angels.
Doubront allowed four runs in 13 innings with 11 strikeouts. He let up 10 hits and five walks with a .217 batting...
Felix Doubront‘s season has undergone a major transformation.
The fortunate part about hitting rock bottom early is that you can only go up. Doubront is showing that there is no limit on how high you can climb, though, as he has evolved into a very reliable back-end starter after a very shaky start to the season.
There was a time this year when it looked like Doubront’s days...
Dustin Pedroia hit a two-run double, David Ortiz had a two-run single and the Boston Red Sox wrapped up a big homestand by beating San Diego 8-2 Thursday, sending the Padres to their season-high sixth straight loss.
Brandon Snyder and Jacoby Ellsbury each had solo homers for the Red Sox. Boston went 8-1 at Fenway Park to match its best homestand since June 2010.
The Red Sox also...
Sources close to the Red Sox have informed me that 7:52 pm EDT (4:52 LA time) Mike Napoli’s ninth-inning home run Friday night finally landed. And David Ortiz was still pimpin’ his.
Ah, yes. These are your Boston Red Sox. The best team in the American League and having the most fun you’ve seen in several years. Whoever said chemistry doesn’t...

Felix Doubront has distanced himself from the version of Felix Doubront we saw in May. In May, he was sitting pretty with a 6.40 ERA and he was walking a very thin line, according to NESN. High pitch counts and lower velocity were huge problems and people wanted him out of the rotation. So, the question is, where are...
Three Red Sox players will be making the trip to Citi Field in New York July 16 for the annual All-Star game. David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia and Clay Buchholz will all be part of the festivities.
There is still hope that one more Red Sox player could be added to the team. Red Sox reliever Koji Uehara was selected as one of five candidates for the final...
I hate Red Sox West Coast road trips. Like, I really, seriously LOATHE West Coast road trips. I’m one of those people who’s really finicky about my sleep schedule, to the point that I’ll ditch my friends to go home and sleep. But as you all know by now, I’m also extremely serious about the Red Sox, and I’m willing to sacrifice a consistent sleep schedule for a few days...
After their most successful homestand in more than three years, the Boston Red Sox will begin a 1o-game West Coast road trip on Friday against the Los Angeles Angels.
Felix Doubront will get the nod in the series opener, and he will need to have his best stuff in order to slow down an Angels team that has won eight of its last nine games.
The Sox are coming off a hot streak of their...
In the first game of ten on their west coast road trip, the Red Sox were victorious against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, winning 6-2, thanks to a Josh Hamilton error in the seventh inning that scored Shane Victorino.
With the game tied 2-2 in the seventh inning, Angels Outfielder Josh Hamilton dropped a routine looking fly ball to give the Red Sox a lead they wouldn’t give...
