Another Cubs Blog:
Paul Sullivan, refusing to bury the lede:
A controversy-free day for Carlos Zambrano is as rare as a Chicago winter without potholes.
In the last two weeks, Zambrano has smashed a Gatorade dispenser, bumped an umpire, received a six-game suspension, missed the team charter and announced he would retire at the end of his contract.
How pithy. A Paul Sullivan column without a thinly veiled shot at Carlos Zambrano is about as rare as flying swine. What’s more, eliding can be fun, I guess, especially when used to make things appear as if they are a series of independent events, and not separate components of two singular events. But apparently, even though Carlos has been stellar in May and June, Sullivan felt it was singularly important to remind everyone that Carlos is a crazyass mofo, and just because he didn’t do anything crazy last night, doesn’t mean he’s not still crazy.
As long as Paul feels it is necessary to take shots at Z, we’ll feel it’s necessary to take shots at Paul, who looks like an unhappily retired schoolmarm.
