New Orleans Pelicans’ will be without guard Tyreke Evans tonight against the Miami heat due to a sprained left ankle.
As reported by Nakia Hogan of NOLA.com, Evans had hoped he’d be able to return against the Heat, but he said Wednesday morning that returning for the preseason finale against the Magic on Friday is a more realistic goal.
The ankle injury has limited Evans in practice and has kept him out of the last five preseason games, tonight being the sixth.
“I practiced the other day,” Evans said. “It felt pretty good, but afterwards it was a little sore. I got hit in the spot a couple times. That’s basketball. Coach just said sit this one out and get ready for Orlando.”
Evan was acquired in the off season after playing for the Sacramento Kings the past four seasons. He hasn’t played since the preseason opener on October 5.
