It’s not about hope anymore is Seattle, the Seahawks are real and the NFC knows it. The team nobody wants to play is young and its future isn’t right now, it’s still far ahead of them. Coach Pete Carroll has built his own culture in Seattle. He brought his guys from USC and instead of trying to do it the NFL way; Carroll did it the USC way. Using their in depth knowledge of the college ranks, Carroll’s personnel department went looking ‘outside the box’ for talent. They didn’t look at what players couldn’t do; they focused on what they could do. The result brought a secondary that is unique to the NFL, defensive backs with exceptional size and speed, and a rookie quarterback for all intent and purposes should be rookie of the year in Russell Wilson, who seems to make all the right moves. Carroll once thought an s a nice guy isn’t so nice now, dropping the hammer with back to back 50+ point games and a drubbing of the once feared San Francisco 49ers. Carroll isn’t walking on egg shells anymore, it’s more like sunshine. However, don’t get it twisted, Carroll has his foot on the pedal and isn’t coming off it anytime soon. Carroll spoke to Brock and Salk on 710 ESPN in Seattle about how the Seahawks aren’t the flavor of the month; they are going to be around for a while. “We’re frustrated that it took three years, to tell you the truth. I thought we could have made a much better run of it last year. We just stumbled so much early on and had troubles getting started. All of the reasons we always talked about — the lockout, new 0-line, all young guys. Just took us a long time to jell. And this year, it’s frustrating. We could have been so good this year. We were so close, and it was a little bit of the timing factor. Maybe I could have tweaked a little bit quicker than I did. But all in all we knew we had a really good team early. We could tell we had players in the right spots. We had guys that would run fast, play hard, do what we want them to do. It was just a matter of time, and fortunately we caught fire with enough time to put us in a position where we’re playing really good ball right now. The thing that all of us know — the players, the administration, everybody knows — we’re going to be good for a while. This is a young, aggressive, growing team, and we’re just going to keep getting better hopefully.”   var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
