I’ve been harping for the last couple weeks about what an asset Chone Figgins (and his .393 OBP) would be at the top of our line-up. It also happens that he plays a tremendous 3rd base, a position we coincidently have open. I felt he was the perfect fit, but didn’t really think the Phillies would spend the money on him (or that he was worth what he was reportedly demanding), and figured they would go with a lower-cost, lower-commitment option. Well, maybe not. Jon Heyman of CNNSI.com is reporting that the Phillies (and Mets) are showing the most interest in Figgins. The two-time defending National League champion Phillies are said to be intent on pursuing Figgins hard as a potential replacement for Pedro Feliz.
