According to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News, the Phillies have expressed interest in Yankee reliever Joba Chamberlain. He suggests that Michael Young and Carlos Ruiz are some names that are being thrown around as possible players in a deal. Here’s the quote:
National League sources say the Phillies are amenable to dealing Michael Young and have expressed interest in Joba Chamberlain, a salary-dump swap that would save Philadelphia roughly $7 million. The sources also say Carlos Ruiz can be had before the deadline, too.
A Young-Chamberlain (or Ruiz-Chamberlain) swap wouldn’t be the most ideal trade for the Phillies, but it wouldn’t hurt. Michael Young is certainly tradeable, and, considering the circumstances, trading Young would be beneficial. Chamberlain would provide some much needed help in the bullpen, even though his numbers are poor this year. He could step into the 6th or 7th inning role for the Phils, who desperately need something. A fresh start could be what hel...

On Saturday, the Philadelphia Phillies placed Ryan Howard on the 15 day disabled list with left knee inflammation and Darin Ruf was called up to take his place on the roster. But could this latest injury be the beginning of Howard’s career declining right before our eyes.
Ryan Howard was drafted in the fifth round of 2001 first year player draft out of Southwest Missouri State...
Michael Young contributing to awful Phillies defense

The headline for last night’s blowout loss on phillies.com was “Kendrick gets knocked around by Braves.” Kendrick’s line supports that claim, as KK allowed 6 runs in 5 innings. But the more appropriate headline might be “Kendrick struggles and defense lets him down.”

The New York Yankees grounds crew was caught unprepared during Monday night's game as they had trouble rolling out the tarp when a sudden rainstorm hit Yankee Stadium.
It happened in the fourth inning when a sudden downpour forced the umpires to call for a rain delay. The field was already fairly wet by the time the grounds crew...
Enough, for now, about the possibility of the Philadelphia Phillies trading Jonathan Papelbon.
They need to add a reliever, not subtract one.
The Phillies are in the midst of a mini-surge, even without one-time National League MVP Ryan Howard. They have won five of six to close within 7.5 games of first place in the NL East, and 5.5 of the second wild-card spot.
The Phillies are...

It’s easy to get excited when the Phillies play like this. They take a series from the Pirates in Pittsburgh, a series from the Braves at home, and then their No. 5 starter goes out last night and dominates the team directly above them in the standings. To top it off, all of this comes against the backdrop of...
Have you ever made a mistake or a few?Â

Well, I certainly have done many things that I regret and my guess is you have too.
Now pretend that everyone, everywhere knew your mistakes and judged you on that merit only.
Personally, I can’t even begin to imagine what that would be like.
I am sure all of us have been on the...
Derek Jeter hasn’t played an inning of baseball all season and it’s safe to assume he’s a bit grumpy.
Nonetheless, Jeter being Jeter managed to put his pride aside and work hard rehabbing at the Yankees Triple A team in Scranton. As expected he’s been bombarded by fans day and night and well, this pretty much sums up at man who’s ready to get back in pinstripes

We may never know exactly what Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun are being accused of in Major League Baseball's Biogenesis investigation - if they beat the rap.
That's because details likely will be caught in a tangle of legal gymnastics involving MLB, the players' union and probably an arbitrator, who could rule no discipline is warranted.
Lengthy proceedings make it...
