Last year, the Northwestern Wildcats wore a special stars & stripes helmet in their second contest of the season against Vanderbilt – a game which they won 23-13. This Saturday, they’re bringing the tradition back for another year against Syracuse. BTN’s Brent Yarina tweeted out the news this morning:

Northwestern cornerback Daniel Jones will have season-ending knee surgery.
Coach Pat Fitzgerald said Monday that Jones will miss the rest of the year after he was injured in the first half of the Wildcats' season-opening win at California on Saturday.
Jones started the final seven games as a sophomore last season and finished with 33 tackles and four passes defended.
