Early in the second period, Montreal Canadiens defenseman PK Subban leveled Ottawa Senators forward Chris Neil.  Neil is known as a tough guy who doesn’t get laid out often, but on this one he yardsaled.  You could argue that this was a bit of a questionable hit since Subban left his feet, but the referees probably couldn’t tell is if he left his feet because of the momentum of the hit.  This was a Niklas Kronwall-esque hit that will merely add fuel to the fire of this escalated rivalry. Craig Anderson high-sticks himself with Brandon Prust's stick (Video)

Ottawa Senators goalie Craig Anderson used an interesting tactic to stop a Montreal Canadiens goal during Thursday night's NHL Western Conference playoff game at the Bell Center: grabbing an opponent's stick and taking a dive after high-sticking himself with it. It happened in the third period as the Habs were setting up their offense in the Senators zone. Canadiens...

Lars Eller taken off ice on a stretcher after brutal hit by Eric Gryba (video)

During the second period of Game 1 between the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators at Bell Centre, Habs center Lars Eller was on the receiving end of a vicious, high hit to the head from Senators defenseman Eric Gryba. Eller immediately crumpled to the ice and a pool of blood immediately began to form underneath him. A bad zone-clearing pass from a teammate left Eller a sitting...

Ottawa Sun cover features a bloodied Lars Eller with headline ‘First Blood Sens’ (photo)

(via New York Daily News) During the second period of the Ottawa Senators’ 4-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens in the series-opening game, Habs center Lars Eller was on the receiving end of a particularly brutal hit courtesy of Senators defenseman Eric Gryba. Led by a risky zone-clearing pass from teammate Raphael Diaz, Eller was left wide open for the brutal, open ice hit. Diaz...

Brandon Prust Calls Ottawa Coach “A Bug-Eyed Fat Walrus”

After Montreal’s Lars Eller was left unconscious and bleeding on the ice during game 1 of the Senators-Canadiens playoff series, Ottawa coach Paul MacLean offered his thoughts on Eric Gryba’s hit. Per The Globe And Mail:  (If I’m Eller), I’m really mad at player 61, whoever he is, because he passed me the puck in the middle of the rink when I wasn’t looking,” said...

Senators intent on taking it to Montreal in Game 3

The Senators know they missed a big opportunity. They seized home-ice advantage from Montreal in the opener of their first-round series in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Then came a poor effort in Game 2. Ottawa now looks to rebound when it hosts the Canadiens in Game 3 on Sunday night with the series 1-1. With Max Pachioretty, Brian Gionta and Lars Eller all injured and out...

Brandon Prust calls Senators coach Paul MacLean a “bug-eyed fat walrus”

After a vicious hit by Eric Gryba on Lars Eller, the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators normally docile rivalry has escalated.  Gryba earned a two game suspension for the hit, and Ottawa Senators coach Paul MacLean said that Gryba shouldn’t be blamed, that Canadiens defenseman Raphael Diaz should be blamed for a bad suicide pass.  Canadiens forward Brandon Prust didn’t...

Habs Lars Eller Carted Off On Stretcher, Hospitalized with Facial Fractures and Concussion

Gruesome scene last night as Montreal's Lars Eller floated around in no man's land and Ottawa Senator Eric Gryba knocked him out of it. "It's tough seeing a guy laying in a heap with blood... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~

Lars Eller Demolished By Eric Gryba: Video

Tonight during the Canadiens, Senators game a scary moment transpired when Lars Eller had to be taken off a stretcher after a huge hit by Eric Gryba. People are now debating whether Gryba deserves to be suspeneded, and right now it’s easy to say that he doesn’t deserve to be suspended. Diaz sent a pass to Eller, the puck touched his [...]

Carey Price does some dental work, hands pieces of his teeth to his trainer

Carey Price: Canadian. Goaltender. Dentist. Price can officially add dentistry to his list of hobbies as the goaltender did a bit of maintenance on himself after taking a skate to the helmet during his team's 3-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Friday night.  Teammate Jarred Tinordi inadvertently caught Price's helmet with his skate, causing both of the goaltender...

Paul MacLean Is Husky, Not Fat...

((HT: Sportsnet)) Leave it to the Canadiens-Sens series to have all the barbs you need to move the storyline along... The Habs Brandon Prust claimed that the Senators head coach reminded him of a "fat, bug-eyed walrus." Today was MacLean's response... When the HQ thinks of "husky" all we think of are those jeans that we got from Wrangler when...

Ottawa Sun front page goes too far with "first blood"

You can't judge a fan base by a newspaper which employs a reporter who wrote about his own junk, so let's not jump to conclusions. You can debate the schematics of the hit on Lars Eller by Eric Gryba all that you want to, but when Eller hit the ice a vast majority of Senators fans acted with legitimate concern.  Montreal fans weren't happy with the hit, and they...

Eugene Melnyk Joins Twitter

So Eugene Melnyk has joined Twitter (@melnykeugene). The Ottawa Senators organization has confirmed Melnyk's presence on the social networking tool, but I won't believe it's truly him until Twitter's forensic investigators validate his presence themselves. It's a great day for those who always looking forward to hearing what the Sens' unabashed owner has...

Would You Have Called A Diving Penalty On Anderson?

I don't believe there was much contact on this skate-by from Brandon Prust on Craig Anderson.
