Robert Caplin for The New York Times
Mars Blackmon was all about the shoes. Plaxico Burress is all about the socks. Luxury socks. $24 a pair AND UP luxury socks.
This is the same guy that sat next to me at study hall in the Clara Bell Smith Center at Michigan State. His tutor typed a paper about some book that he was supposed to read (and didn’t, shocker) while the DMX bumped in his headphones. Tutor: “Hey, what do you want me to put here?” Plax: “I don’t know, just STFU and write it.” And I’m sure none of Nick Saban’s current players act this way now. Nah.
But anyway, back to the socks.
Burress told the New York Times that he’s been into socks for a while now. “I’ve been planning my sock line from behind the scenes for a couple of years; nobody even knew I was doing it.”
The Plaxico Burress Collection will be released to retail some time in June. To help promote his socks, he has created a Twitter account @PlaxicosSocks. And he won’t stop at just socks. “The ultimate goal is to get into bow ties, cuff links and belts,” he said. “Definitely belts. Come on, who doesn’t need a great belt?”
I can’t wait to see what the Plaxico Burress Collection motto is. If I had to guess, it’d be “I don’t know, just STFU and buy some socks.”
