Times are tough out here, and when you are not making the big money that you used to, they get tougher.  USA Today is reporting that Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress is set to have his Virginia Beach, Virginia home auctioned off by a judge. A circuit court has ordered the auction of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress’ Virginia Beach home to satisfy liens against the property due a judgment resulting from a 2008 traffic accident in Florida. Burress owes $159,000 to a woman who claims he caused her to suffer neck and back injuries when he rear-ended her nearly five years ago. Burress was a member of the New York Giants at the time. He is slated to earn a non-guaranteed base salary of $940,00...

Sharrif Floyd and Sheldon Richardson...

Steelers Selecting Jarvis Jones At 17th Overall Wouldn’t Be A Smart Decision

It's tiring to continue to see so many mock drafts link Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones to the Pittsburgh Steelers at the 17th overall selection. For starters, the Steelers history when it comes to drafting linebackers in round one isn't overly great. Lawrence Timmons was drafted in 2007 to be an outside guy with flexibility to possibly move inside. Thank God that worked...

Quarterback Moves Could Affect the Pittsburgh Steelers First Round Pick Options

There isn’t much consensus on who the Steelers will be looking at or drafting in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft at the end of this month. However, current moves concerning NFL quarterbacks could change the top half of the draft and cause the Steelers to have fewer of their top options available when they make their first pick at seventeen. As of now the top players being...

The Pittsburgh Steelers Can’t Be Scared to go Outside Linebacker in the First Round of the 2013 NFL Draft

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a poor history when it comes to drafting outside linebacker in the first round of the NFL Draft. Last time the Steelers drafted an outside linebacker in the first round of the draft they selected Lawrence Timmons in 2007. However, Timmons was an outside linebacker in a 4-3 defense in college at Florida State and was considered an inside linebacker in...

Steelers Mock Draft Exercise – First Four Rounds – List 20 Players

As much time as I spend on my mock drafts, my final one is my favorite as I usually add nine names of players that I considered in addition to my actual pick. The result of that is a list of around 60-70 players, because the last few rounds normally include a few duplicates. I like to judge myself by that list compared to the actual draft of the Pittsburgh Steelers, because the odds...

Buck Linebacker Spot Continues To Be Big Question Mark On Steelers Defense

By Jeremy Hritz Only 20 some days away from the 2013 NFL Draft, and still the biggest question facing the Steelers defense is who will line up alongside Lawrence Timmons at middle linebacker. Based on the current roster and due to the injury of Sean Spence, it would appear that Larry Foote will start inside for a second year. Foote was serviceable but not spectacular in 2012, and...

Former Steelers S Will Allen Signed One Year Minimum Qualifying Contract With Cowboys

Allen reportedly signed a one-year veteran qualifying contract with the Cowboys that consist of a $840,000 base salary and a $65,000 signing bonus. This kind of contract is proof that the Steelers simply had no interest in bringing...

Looking Back At Some Recent Steelers Pre Draft Visits

The Pittsburgh Steelers have started bringing in draft prospects for pre draft visits as Ohio State linebacker John Simon, Florida State linebacker Vince Williams, and Texas A&M running back Christine Michael all were in Pittsburgh on Monday. Teams are allowed to have up to 30 non-local players visit and as many local players who went to school or live in their metropolitan...

Leftover Easter Candy: The Football Foodie Offseason

The offseason sucks. We’re scanning headlines to find out where middling punters are signing. We read entire posts about James Harrison maybe possibly kinda wanting to sorta come back to the Steelers, I mean, that is, if they like him because he’s totally cool where he’s at but just… you know… if they’re interested. It’s months of passive posturing and hand wringing...
