Tomas Plekanec scored at 18:53 of the third period to snap a 3-3 tie and added a short-handed empty-net goal as the Canadiens survived a scare to post a 5-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets Thursday night at the Bell Centre. The win extended the Canadiens’ current win streak to four games. The Blue Jackets battled back from a 3-0 deficit and tied the game on Boone Jenner’s second power play goal of the game at 4:35 of the third period. Rene Bourque Michael Bournival and Andrei Markov scored for the Canadiens while Ryan Johansen had the other Columbus goal. Carey Price made 30 saves for the win. Heads-up play: Bourque who was a game-time decision after missing the morning skate with flu-like symptoms opened the scoring on a rare power play breakaway at 4:38 of the first period. P.K. Subban caught the Blue Jackets by surprise when he launched a pass from deep in the Canadiens’ zone to Bourque who was waiting at the far blue line. Bourque made no mistake as he beat Sergei Bobrovsky high on the blocker side. Subban had two assists in the game and leads all NHL defencemen with 10 points. Icebreaker: Bournival made it 2-0 when he scored his first NHL goal at 12:01 of the first period. The Shawinigan native beat Bobrovsky with a blast from the right faceoff circle after a pass from Markov.
