In his debut he gave up four runs in 5.1 innings. Since then he hasn’t given up more than three runs in an outing, spanning seven outings. Jared Hughes gave up his first run in ten innings since going down to Triple-A. He has an 8:3 K/BB ratio in that stretch. Chase d’Arnaud and Alex Presley led off the game with back-to-back triples to lead to a two run inning, but Indianapolis didn’t score the rest of the night.   Jameson Taillon struggled with his control tonight, walking four batters in five innings. AA: ALTOONA CURVE    Box Score Result: Altoona 8, Binghamton 4 Starting Pitcher: Jameson Taillon, RHP (3.26) – 5.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 5 K, 1 HR Top Hitter: Andrew Lambo, LF-1B (.293) – 2-for-5, HR Other Notable Performers: Alex Dickerson, RF (.214) – 2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI, BB Mel Rojas, CF (.251) – 2-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI Game Notes: Jameson Taillon had some control issues tonight, walking more than three batters for the first time this season. He also gave up more than three earned runs for only the second time on the year. Three of his runs came on a first inning homer, and all four came in the first inning. Taillon has given up three homers in his last three games. Andrew Lambo hit his tenth homer of the year. Only Stetson Allie has more homers, and third place is a tie between Brett Carroll and Jarek Cunningham with eight each. Mel Rojas now has a six game hitting streak, and is 14-for-39 in his last ten games, with hits in nine of those ten games.   A+: BRADENTON MARAUDERS   Box Score Result: Fort Myers 10, Bradenton 3 Starting Pitcher: Adrian Sampson, RHP (2-2, 6.46) – 6.0 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 2 HR Top Hitter: Willy Garcia, RF (.223) – 1-for-4, HR Other Notable Performers: Carlos Mesa, DH (.265) – 1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI Game Notes: Gregory Polanco stole two bases, giving him 21 stolen bases on the season. He stole 40 bases last year. Willy Garcia hit his fourth homer of the year. Adrian Sampson pitched five innings with no earned runs the last time out, but was hit hard tonight. He’s had trouble with the long ball this year, giving up nine homers in 47.1 innings over ten starts. This was his third multi-homer game in his last five games, and he has seven homers in that span.   A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER Box Score Result: Greensboro 12, West Virginia 5 Starting Pitcher: Jake Burnette, RHP (0-2, 15.00) – 0.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 HR Top Hitter: Josh Bell, RF (.278) – 2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI Other Notable Performers: Dilson Herrera, 2B (.299) – 1-for-5, 2B John Kuchno, RHP (4.91) – 5.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 0 BB, 9 K, 3 HR Stetson Allie, DH (.342) – 1-for-4, 2 K Game Notes: West Virginia was hurt with home runs tonight. Jake Burnette gave up a grand slam in the first inning, and left while recording only one out. It was the second time in four starts that Burnette has failed to get out of the first inning. John Kuchno also struggled with homers, giving up three solo shots. Prior to this game he had given up one homer in 42 innings on the season. Kuchno also struck out nine, which is a career high, beating his previous high of five strikeouts which he reached twice this year. Josh Bell hit his seventh homer of the season.
