The number 4 Florida Gators weren’t sure they would have their starting quarterback in time for the trip to face number 10 Florida State this weekend, but according to coach Will Muschamp, Jeff Driskel will play in the game for the Gators.
“Jeff Driskel will play in the game,” Muschamp said. “What will be his percentage I don’t know right now. We will not practice him...
I recently attended scout day for the University of Florida and while the Gators still have a lot of talent on campus, they lost some major talent in the 2012 draft. Between departing upperclassmen and recruits that signed out of high school, the Gators lost 11 players in the top three rounds of the draft (Michael Zunino, Lance McCullers, Lewis Brinson, Brian Johnson, Nolan Fontana...
It should be easy. Embracing a top 10 and 10-1 team should be as easy as saying yes to a date with the cheerleader captain. Certainly nothing this group of Gators has done off the field or character wise would lead any fan of the Florida Gators not to root them on, but all of that and in the top six of the BCS with only one game left on the schedule, and Florida Gator fans are probably confused.
No. 6 Florida will have quarterback Jeff Driskel back against rival and 10th-ranked Florida State.
Driskel sat out Saturday's 23-0 win over Jacksonville State because of a sprained right ankle. Jacoby Brissett completed 14 of 22 passes for 154 yards.
Driskel was on the sideline without a walking boot, a good sign for Florida (10-1). Coach Will Muschamp says Driskel worked out...
TAMPA, Fla. -- Kenny Boynton had 20 points and Will Yeguete scored 11 and grabbed 13 rebounds Sunday to help No. 10 Florida pull away to a 66-45 victory over Middle Tennessee. Boynton scored the final 13 of the game for the Gators (3-0), who opened the second half with a 14-2 run and never looked back. Middle Tennessee (2-1) trimmed a 15-point deficit to nine before Mike Rosario...
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida wants to finish its postponed season opener against Georgetown.
Coach Billy Donovan said Tuesday night that the No. 7 Gators have reached out to the Hoyas about completing the game in nearby Jacksonville.
"Our school has reached out to Georgetown about completing and finishing the game," Donovan said. "There are some dates and some...
Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel is expected to play in this Saturday's Florida-FSU game. This according to Gators' head football coach Will Muschamp. He was sidelined during last Saturday's win over Jacksonville State.
"How Driskel performs in practice will determine how much he plays,
Muschamp said. “I just know, based on yesterday, he's going to...
Florida believes it will benefit from facing a physical opponent in its most recent game, but it might have to battle some fatigue in its next one.
The seventh-ranked Gators will have a short turnaround before Tuesday night's matchup with a visiting Savannah State team that's been competitive in each of its games.
Florida didn't get quite the challenge it might have...

The intensity of the Middle Tennessee State defense took No. 10 Florida time to adjust in the first half. The Gators adjusted in the second half and forced the offense into the paint, helping Florida run away with the game. Kenny Boynton scored 20 points while Will Yeguete posted his second career double-double as the Gators secured a 66-45 win in Tampa.
Just four weeks after suffering its first loss of the season, No. 6 Florida suddenly finds itself back in the national title hunt.
It won't make a difference, however, unless the Gators can find a way to beat archrival and No. 10 Florida State on Saturday for the first time since Tim Tebow was team captain in 2009.
They might also have do to it with limited use of their banged...
The Gators will play their first of two instate neutral site game on Sunday when they face Middle Tennessee State in Tampa. It’s an opportunity for the team to play across the state in front of fans that may not be able to make a trip to Gainesville. It also allows some Gators to play in front of family and friends, which will happen for freshman guard Michael Frazier on Sunday.
The Florida Gators are used to playing tough competition. They have played and beaten more teams in the BCS top twelve than any other in the country. So, when they are on the road this Saturday against Florida State, don’t expect them to treat this game any different than all the rest. Senior Omar Hunter says there is no pressure, they just want to compete again.
The Gators finish their season undefeated in the Swamp after a 23-0 shutout over Jacksonville State. James Wilson and Marcus Roberson share their thoughts on the victory, senior day, and next week's match-up against Florida State, right here.
