This has been talked about for quite some time- no shock with the axe dropping. Here’s a tweet from the Indiana Hoosiers Rivals account: Jeff Rabjohns ?@JeffRabjohns Multiple sources tell http://Peegs.com  this is Danny Hope’s final season as Purdue FB coach, regardless of the outcome of today’s game. Therefore, a bucket for a bowl isn’t enough to save his gig. Winning a rivalry game won’t salvage his well below .500 career. The man who will drop the hammer, Purdue A.D. Morgan Burke issued a statement on October 29th when Purdue was 3-5 and 0-4 in the Big Ten. ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit predicted the Boilermakers would represent the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl. Whoops! Hope has said before this is his most talented team Here was Burke’s statement from a month ago “We have worked very hard over the past four years to improve our personnel, facilities and every phase of our program, which is evident. Our student-athletes, alumni, fans, coaching staff and administration all expect to see the program move forward and take a step up the postseason ladder. “Currently, our performance has kept us from reaching our goals. But we have a third of the season left to play, and our focus is to achieve that consistency over the remaining four games. We need to press forward, converting potential into results and having fun playing Boilermaker football.” Obviously, he left the door open with that ethereal statement. But today that door seems shut. Paul M. Banks is CEO of The Sports Bank.net, a Google News site generating millions of unique visitors.
