What makes him such a solid, consistent hitter? Upton (along with Mark Reynolds) continues to be a consistent source of offense in an otherwise sporadic lineup. A lot of times you'll hear hitters described as having "home-run power" or "gap power," resulting in a lot of doubles; Upton has what I like to call "lightning power." He can drive the ball to all fields, but has more than enough speed to stretch those hits into three bases when the situation calls for it. Simply put, the kid can rake. He has good plate discipline, tying for the team lead in walks and carrying an OBP over .400. His numbers are ridiculous for any major leaguer, let alone a 21-year-old. He deserves strong consideration for one of the starting spots at the all-star game if he keeps this up, even though the NL feat...
