Fox Sports Southwest:
ARLINGTON, Texas -- So apparently Texas Rangers reliever Tanner Scheppers wasn't involved in a fight in Cleveland after all.
The team said Monday they have a full understanding of what happened in the incident Thursday night in Cleveland.
Scheppers was jumped on the street and punched in the face. He sustained a bruised left eye and cuts on his face as well as a headache form the altercation. That's what Scheppers said happened Saturday, but at the time he said he was alone.
Monday he said that he was with teammates Joe Nathan and A.J. Pierzynski when he was hit.
"Initially I didn't say that because I didn't feel like it was a big deal," Scheppers said. "I didn't really want to involve them. They were there with me so they know what happened. They mostly just picked up off the floor."
According to a police report, the incident occurred at 2:30 a.m. Friday at a bar. After the incident, Scheppers was given a ride by the police back to the team hotel. He was unavailable to pitch in Friday's 11-8 loss to the Indians.
"I've turned the page," Scheppers said. "Unfortunately the incident happened. I just really want to thank the Cleveland police because they did handle it pretty properly. They took me back to the hotel and everything. Next time I will be just a little more careful."

If Texas Rangers pitcher Tanner Scheppers was attacked by a group of men outside a restaurant in Cleveland, Ohio last Thursday night, why would he refuse to file a police report. Cleveland Police are reporting that Scheppers was involved in an altercation but refused to cooperate with them. The Police said he wouldn’t file a police report and he wouldn’t tell them exactly what...
CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Texas Rangers say they're investigating a claim by pitcher Tanner Scheppers that he was attacked in downtown Cleveland last week.
Scheppers said he was "sucker-punched by several young males" while going out to dinner a few blocks from the team's hotel Thursday night. He sustained facial cuts and bruises, and said his attackers ran away.
ARLINGTON, Texas Texas Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz was forced to leave Tuesday's 14-11 victory after suffering a bruised quad after getting hit by a pitch running to first base.
Cruz said he was okay after the game physically, but that's not the biggest thing looming over the team's leading home run hitter and RBI producer.
Cruz, who's been linked to the Biogenesis...
ARLINGTON, Texas Texas designated hitter Lance Berkman, who's been on the disabled list since July 7 with left hip inflammation, realizes that unless his hip and right knee start showing some improvement, his season and career could be over.
"You've got to fish or cut bait and I think we're getting to that point rather quickly," Berkman said.
All season long we have seen videos and gifs of Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre and shortstop Elvis Andrus enjoying the game like a couple of guys should. However, as often as they two have messed with each other you had to know that there would be a time when they would end up colliding.
Well that time has come.
To be fair, the two were...
Definitely a team that knows all about injured starters, the Rangers got mixed news this past weekend. Rangers left-hander Matt Harrison is closing in on beginning rehab while fellow starter Nick Tepesch is not getting any healthier according to T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com.
Harrison, who hasn’t pitched since mid-April following multiple back surgeries, is scheduled to begin a...
When the Texas Rangers signed veteran slugger Lance Berkman over the offseason, they knew the injury risk he carried. They thought he'd be a worthy gamble, hoping to protect against significant ailments by using him primarily at DH. However, Berkman's been unable to avoid injuries yet again, and the possibility is growing that he will not play again this season, according...
Nelson Cruz and Lance Berkman were counted upon to be key bats in helping to compensate the losses of Mike Napoli and Josh Hamilton. Add A.J. Pierzynski on a one year deal along with the emergence of Jurickson Profar, and Texas was supposed to be all set.
Cruz, has performed admirably, staying healthy and posting 24HR, 71 RBI and a .329 OBP, performing every bit as a suitable middle...
Earlier today reports began circulating that the Texas Rangers would entertain offers for closer Joe Nathan. While the idea of a team fighting for a playoff spot trading away its ninth inning guy seems like a stretch the Rangers have engaged in talks with the Detroit Tigers.
FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi reports that the Tigers and Rangers spoke about Nathan this weekend. While a trade...
Texas Rangers catcher Geovany Soto hit a walk-off home run to beat the Angels during Monday night’s game. Soto’s home run was the second off Angels pitcher Ernesto Frieri in the ninth. A.J Pierzynski hit the first.
The Angels led 3-0 until the Rangers scored their first run in the bottom of the sixth.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Geovany Soto hit a game-ending homer for Texas after A.J. Pierzynski had already gone deep in the ninth off Los Angeles Angels closer Ernesto Frieri, and the Rangers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory Monday night.
Pierzynski led off the ninth by pulling a pitch into the right-field seats, his 11th homer this season snapping a 4-for-27...
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Geovany Soto hit a game-ending homer, the second long ball in the ninth inning for Texas off Los Angeles Angels closer Ernesto Frieri, and the Rangers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-3 win Monday night.

Here’s one reason you wouldn’t think the Rangers would consider trading closer Joe Nathan: they’re only a game and a half out of the second American League wild-card slot, despite a current team-wide slump. Plus, their division isn’t entirely out of reach. Here’s a second reason you wouldn’t think the Rangers would consider trading Nathan: just a short while ago, they...
Have the Texas Rangers given up on 2013? They have fallen to five game out of the American League West division title race, but they are only 1.5 games out of the second A.L. Wild Card spot. Still, though, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, teams looking for a closer may have what Rosenthal calls "a stunning new possibility to consider."
Rosenthal reports that...
It was reported yesterday that the Texas Rangers were making
closer Joe Nathan available in trade. While the price for the veteran
right-hander is high, it hasn’t stopped the Detroit Tigers – who have been tied
to bullpen help throughout the season – from checking in with the Rangers,
according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.
Sources: Tigers and Rangers have talked...
