Chris Davis was at the park early on Wednesday, going through work on the field in the heat to try to find some consistency with his mechanics and approach. Three weeks ago, Davis' confidence was as low as I've seen it. He admitted that on a scale of 1 to 10, he was a 3 or 4. That is extremely low for a professional athlete, if you ask me. But Davis doesn't feel that way now. He says he's at a 7. He may not be getting results, but he's much more happy with his progress. And he got a big hit on Wednesday, a two-out, RBI-single in the fourth to increase the Rangers' one-run lead at the time. "I'm going out there every day and trying to be consistent," Davis said. "I've been pretty happy with the way my at-bats have been lately. I've been squaring more balls up and hitting the ball better, just not getting any hits.
