If you’ve never noticed before, none of the players on the New York Yankees have facial hair. Not a mustache, not a chin-strap, not a single hair covers a face of the New York Yankees. All because of the no-facial hair policy the Yankees impose. Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher David Price won’t be a free agent until 2016. But if he decides to leave, he has already crossed the Yankees off of potential destinations for that policy. Per Fox Sports John Paul Morosi: “It’s a joke to me, that I had less rules in college than I would on some major league teams. That’s not my style, man. I couldn’t do it on some of these teams I hear about. I couldn’t do it. I’m a grown man.”  “If I ever did hit that free-agent market, there would be teams I wouldn’t sign with simply because of the stuff that I’ve heard – every rule they have. Being here since 2007, being treated like a grownup, given that respect and freedom and space – it grows on you.” “I wouldn’t stay there (New York) very long then,” he responded. “I wouldn’t sign a long-term deal there. Those rules, that’s old-school baseball. I was born in ’85. That’s not for me. That’s not something I want to be a part of.”      As we all know, money talks. So while I can respect Price saying he wouldn’t be interested in the Yankees, if the time comes and the Yankees are offering millions I imagine it would be hard for him to turn them down. A shave might be worth $150 million contract.

David Price backtracks on his comments about the Yankees

Tamapa Bay Rays’ starting pitcher David Price made a little noise yesterday when he said that he wouldn’t want to play for the New York Yankees because of their longtime rule that won’t allow players to have more than a mustache on their face. Just to quickly recap what he said on Wednesday: “I wouldn’t stay there very long then,” said Price, who wears a closely cropped...

Worse than we thought: Hughes has a bulging disc

When Phil Hughes reported back pain the other day, the Yankiverse hope was that Santa would bring us a minor muscle tweak. No problemo, minor muscle tweaks. You cure them by drinking a 12-pack of Keystone in a hot tub. Muscle tweaks fade away. Phil could go on Craig's List Tampa and find himself a nice $50 back rub. Just as long as it wasn't a disc...Well, it's a disc...

Is this the year the Yankees get ‘old’?

Derek Jeter will turn 39 this season. The sarcastic answer is, no, the Yankees are already ‘old.’  As their roster is constructed now, they rank as the third oldest team in the league with an average age of 28.3, and have the oldest player in Baseball—congratulations Mariano.  But is this the year age finally affects the team enough to bounce them from the playoffs?  We...

Hughes sidelined

According to Andy McCullough of The Star Ledger via twitter, Phil Hughes will be shutdown for almost a week due to a bulging disc. Hughes experienced stiffness in his upper back toward his shoulder blade, and underwent an MRI. Today at media day at the Yankees’ Spring Training complex, Hughes revealed the diagnosis. He originally aggrivated his back during infield drills while...

Yankees' Hughes to start season on DL

New York Yankees pitcher Phil Hughes will join Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Curtis Granderson on the disabled list for the start of the season. Yankees manager Joe Girardi announced the decision Wednesday after watching Hughes pitch in his second minor league exhibition game since returning from a bulging disk in his upper back. Hughes is expected to miss his...

Report: Yankees ‘Fishing Around’ for Veteran Pitcher, Plan to Watch Chien-Ming Wang in World Baseball Classic

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman thinks his team will score fewer runs this season, which is why he’s really doing his homework when it comes to the club’s starting rotation. The Yankees are “fishing around” for a veteran pitcher to put at Triple-A, according to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman. The Bronx Bombers reportedly have their eyes on a familiar friend in Chien...

Yankees reportedly scrapping cost-cutting plan, will go back to spending big

The New York Yankees have an incredibly important situation to address at some point over the next eight months with Robinson Cano set to become a free agent after this season. Cano is the best second baseman in baseball and arguably the best all-around player in the game today. He could sign a record-setting contract next fall or sooner. Until recently, it would have been silly...

No Lohse in the Bronx

I guess New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman hasn’t said this enough, Kyle Lohse will not be pitching for the Bombers in 2013. With Phil Hughes recent shoulder injury though he was asked the question and forced to answer it once again. This is why the Yankees are fishing around for a veteran to put at Triple-A (they plan to watch Chien-Ming Wang in the World Baseball...

Cano denies any ties to Biogenesis clinic or PED use

Robinson Cano has acknowledged his close friendship with Alex Rodriguez and Melky Cabrera, but the Yankees second baseman said he doesn't know anything about Biogenesis — the anti-aging clinic that had both players' names listed in its records. Asked at the end of a press conference Monday at George M. Steinbrenner Field if he ever used performance-enhancing drugs or...
