April 17th, 2013 saw another step forward in the evolution of the Houston Dutch Lions when they officially broke ground on its new soccer complex located at FM 1488 and I-45 in Conroe, TX.
The USL-PDL side who are part of the Dutch Lions Group and official partner of Dutch club, FC Twente went ahead with the ceremony despite the cold, damp conditions underfoot and plenty of well wishers, club officials, local business leaders and supporters turned out to show their support of bringing this new soccer complex to the area.
The ceremony was opened by Robbert Kroeze (Vice President) and Dennis Kroeze (Director of Sales and Marketing) showing a TV piece that aired on Fox 26 this week.
Following this, the staff was introduced and a presentation on the club’s vision of what it will bring the area continued to grow the excitement and awareness of what the Houston Dutch Lions will be developing in the area.
Mike Mossel, President of the Dutch Lions Group B.V., spoke about the Dutch soccer philosophy and why he felt Montgomery County was an ideal location for their second U.S. club.  The presentation was then closed by the Consulate of the Netherlands, Geert Visser, who expressed his excitement and support for the Houston Dutch Lions FC’s Youth Academies and Professional Teams.
Following the presentation a brief ceremonial breaking of the ground ensued and the photo opportunity (pictured above) took place with all the club’s executives and shareholders.
Dennis Kroeze, Robbert Kroeze, Mike Mossel, Geert Visser, Martin Kroeze (Club President), Ted Izatt (Shareholder), and Peter Hardsteen (Shareholder) all participated in the ground breaking.
