ESPN’s Joe Schad is reporting that Tulane will leave Conference USA and join the Big East in all sports. I haven’t been able to find out exactly when Tulane will be a full member of the league, but I assume it will be next season.
Tulane may give the Big East a TV market in New Orleans, but the Green Wave certainly won’t make the league any stronger in football. Tulane hasn’t had a winning record in a decade and finished 2-10 this season.
Tulane has been a member of Conference USA since 1995. Tulane is the fifth C-USA school to be uprooted from the Big East. Memphis, Central Florida, SMU, and Houston are set to join the league in 2013.
