"That's pretty scary," he says by telephone from rural Ontario, where he is vacationing this week instead of training for the first time since 2000. McDonald, who split his career between the Anaheim Ducks and St. Louis Blues, announced his retirement in early June, citing post-concussion concerns as the reason.
