No official word yet from Manning, the 35-year-old star who missed this season with a neck injury.
But ESPN's Chris Mortensen tweeted that Manning's father, Archie, laughed at Lowe's report and said it wasn't true.
Irsay tweeted his response to Lowe, saying "sources" say Lowe will star in an "epic remake" of a porn movie.
BEST OF MAXIM
In an era where the Internet has hundreds of writers and reporters, and where ESPN and NFL Network cover football around the clock every day, and where there are still hundreds of reporters for newspapers and magazines, there are still stories that get reported by the unlikeliest of sources. Enter Rob Lowe. The actor made national news on Wednesday afternoon when he tweeted that...
In case you have been holed up in a bunker for the last couple hours, a Hollywood star has decided that he will start breaking news from the sports world. Rob Lowe earlier today tweeted the following:
“Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to #NFL. Wow. #Colts”
I hope I am just as curious as all of you out there as to who his “sources” are. And, if this truly...
Someone needs to explain to me how the folks at NMA can turn these around so quickly, and with this kind of detail.
After a disastrous season, the Indianapolis Colts are dumping coach Jim Caldwell. Caldwell took over from the legendary Tom Dungy to start the 2009 season. As signal-caller, Caldwell did not measure up.
The Colts had a disastrous season and leaned heavily on an aging...
That’s correct, according to actor Rob Lowe’s “people,” Colts QB Peyton Manning is all set to call it a career today. The last time I can recall a celeb breaking a big sports story was the time MC Hammer tweeted that Jim Harbaugh was taking the 49ers job. I scoffed when I read that tweet and look what happened, so you’ll excuse me if I take more of a wait-and-see approach...

Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network spoke with Manning’s agent Tom Condon and he indicated that it was news to him that Manning was retiring.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen said that he spoke with Peyton’s father Archie Manning and he...

The season-long speculation whether injured Colts quarterback
Peyton Manning will return to his team ? or even the NFL ? next
season has been settled: Sources close to actor Rob Lowe have told

Parks and Recreation actor Rob Lowe tried to play the role of Adam Schefter on Wednesday when he set twitter on fire by proclaiming that Colts icon Peyton Manning was ready to call it quits. Archie Manning and Peyton's agent were quick to shoot down Lowe's claim.
Did you abstain from surfing the Internet yesterday in your own personal little SOPA protest? Oh, did you miss a happening. First, Mark Wahlberg said he would have prevented 9/11 with his goatee. Then, Rob Lowe went on Twitter and blew up the universe by announcing that Colts QB Peyton Manning was going to retire.
Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to #NFL. Wow...
To paraphrase Rob Lowe 's "Parks and Recreation" character, this is lit'rally the weirdest story we've heard today.
As questions continue to swirl regarding the future of Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, word has emerged on Twitter that Manning will retire. Such word comes from Rob Lowe, the actor/Colts fan.
