Just days after returning from an eight-day trip that included stops in Manila Philippines and Taipei Taiwan the Rockets returned to preseason action hosting Orlando.
Despite some sluggish moments and the lack of two starters the Rockets defeated the Magic 108-104.
Jeremy Lin went home before the game feeling sick. Chandler Parsons took the night off.
James Harden and Dwight Howard both started and played 18 minutes each. Harden had 21 points for the fourth straight game and was 4-of-6 from three-point range. Howard had eight points and four rebounds.
Patrick Beverley who has been sharing the starting point guard role with Lin finished the game with 13 points and nine rebounds. Donatas Motiejunas had 14 points and eight rebounds.
The Rockets will play again on Monday Oct. 21 when they host Dallas at 7 p.m.

When it is time to make a decision Alfred always has the right answer. “I actually wrote (them) down and can tell it to you — it’s from Batman,” Howard tells USA TODAY Sports. “Batman and Alfred were having a discussion (in the 2012 Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises), and Batman didn’t like what was going on and he felt like the best thing he could do was just hide....
This upcoming season will only be the NBA’s third since the retirement of Yao Ming, but to me, it feels a whole lot longer than that. So much has happened since that point, like the Big Three coming together in Miami, Kevin Durant emerging as the number 2 player in the game, and the Rockets ...The post Will Yao Ming Get Into The Hall Of Fame As A Player? appeared first on The League News.
Dwight Howard dropped into the low blocks and waited. And waited. And waited.
Eventually the ball found him as it has reliably through the preseason’s first four games. But the portions of the Rockets’ offense built around him never looked right. Passes have come his way but often too late. Some were on time but missed their target.
None of this was considered to be much of...
For months one of the most intriguing questions about the Rockets has been how Omer Asik and Dwight Howard will fit together.
The answer to that is coming as Omer Asik had his first full practice on Thursday after battling a calf injury since the beginning of training camp.
“He did everything today so that is a great sign” coach Kevin McHale said.
Linsanity isn’t dead but it might be on the verge of being buried.
The play of Patrick Beverley in the playoffs last year and into this pre-season has made it clear that even if Justin Lin remains Houston’s starting point guard — which is no certainty — he’ll be platooning with Beverley.
And Beverley could well emerge as Houston’s starter because it would give the team...

A popular bit on the Internet of late appears to be taking photos of former NBA center Yao Ming standing next to people who are shorter than him so we can all marvel over how a man who stands 7’6″ can make even a person of average height seem short by comparison. Dwight Howard recently seemed really upset that the Orlando Magic didn’t retire his number.
Via the Orlando Sentinel Howard said he wasn’t very happy when his former team allowed Tobias Harris to wear No. 12, which of course was his number in Orlando.
“I just think that despite whatever happened, there was a lot of things that I did and that we did as a team, and that...
With his latest explanation as to why he decided to not re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers and instead join the Houston Rockets organization, it certainly seems like Dwight Howard is attempting to co-opt the entire DC Comics superhero universe, leaving only secondary characters for the rest of his NBA colleagues. Why? Because Howard, already […]The post Dwight Howard says his...
UFC 166 headliners Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez gain special access to the Houston Rockets’ locker room to meet NBA All-Stars Dwight Howard and James Harden.
Dwight Howard faces his former Magic team Wednesday at Toyota Center for the third time since forcing his way out in a brutal will-he, won't-he drama of his Dwight-mare decision.
Magic fans and the Magic organization are still largely recovering from that. The team is rebuilding and working its way from the bottom -- literally after finishing last year with the league'...
On Wednesday night, Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets will face the Orlando Magic in a preseason game.
It will be Howard’s first game in Orlando wearing a Rockets No. 12 uniform. Howard, the face of the Magic for several years, and a future Hall of Famer, will return to the arena he built, upset at Magic’s brass.
According to the Sun Sentinel, Howard is still upset that...
