PLAYERS: Mark Rogers
TEAMS: Milwaukee Brewers
MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Mark Rogers will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Huntsville as he tries to work his way back from a right shoulder injury. Placed on the disabled list March 26 with right shoulder instability, Rogers had the Brewers puzzled about his drop in velocity during spring training. Usually hitting the mid-90s with his fastball, Rogers topped out at 89 mph in his final spring training outing. After his March 12 appearance, Rogers backed off for 12 days before giving it ago March 24 against Colorado. The right-hander allowed two earned runs on two hits with two walks and two strikeouts in three innings and still couldn't overcome velocity and command issues. Out of minor league options, Rogers had to make the Opening Day roster or the Brewers would have had to risk losing him on waivers in order to get him to the minor leagues. Rogers, 27, was expected to compete for a spot in Milwaukee's rotation after going 3-2 with a 3.92 ERA in seven starts at the end of last season. Follow Andrew Gruman on Twitter.

The Macroscopic Scale - Jean Segura may or may not have been on it…

Introduction - I've made an alternate guide to enjoying the latest Jean Segura moment* (GIFs provided by Grant Brisbee) for members of various Jean Segura fan clubs.   *Here's the definition of Macroscopic Scale - keep this definition in mind as you go through this. To me, it seems as though Jean Segura may or may not have been on the macroscopic scale. Or...

Brewers' Segura steals second, then, well, first

MILWAUKEE -- A play that turned out to be harmless in the end left official scorers scrambling and players and coaches scratching their heads for an explanation Friday night at Miller Park. It was easy for the Brewers to laugh about it afterward because they held on to beat the Cubs, 5-4, for their fifth straight win, but they ran themselves out of a promising eighth inning in the...

Milwaukee Brewers SS Jean Segura Gets Confused and Steals First--Legally!

Right when you think you understand everything about the game-- you find out that someone can theoretically steal first! Your browser does not support iframes. In this case, Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Jean Segura steals second and after Ryan Braun walks the two try a double steal. The Cubs play it perfectly though with a solid throw by Shawn Camp to pick off Segura, but he...

Burgos' big break is right around the corner

MILWAUKEE -- At this time last year, Hiram Burgos was preparing to make his next scheduled start for Brevard County in Single-A. Now he's one day away from making his Major League debut. Burgos was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to start for the Brewers against the Cubs on Saturday at Miller Park. "Right now I just feel really proud, and I'm happy and excited to...

Intriguing rookie Burgos lifts Brewers to .500

MILWAUKEE -- In sports, everyone loves to recognize the first time something happens. Brewers rookie right-hander Hiram Burgos made his Major League debut Saturday night at Miller Park, so his fellow starting pitchers decided to have a little fun with his "firsts" after the game. Placed on Burgos' chair was "the first towel sat on," while baseballs signed...

Historic turnaround ends Brewers' rough start

MILWAUKEE When the Brewers last left Milwaukee, the clubhouse was full of players and coaches searching for answers. The bullpen was exhausted and had just coughed up another game, a starting pitcher had to pinch hit with the tying run on third base in extra innings. The starting pitchers couldn't go deep in a game and the offense couldn't scratch runs across the plate...

Thanks to the Big League Stew we have one of the most complex step-by-step rundowns of a rundown: • Segura...

Watch Jean Segura Steals Second Then First

The beauty about Major League Baseball is there are no actors/actresses or scripts written for any upcoming baseball games.   So when you see the likes of Milwaukee Brewers’ shortstop Jean Segura attempting to steal first base, you may wonder what in the world did he just do.  How can you steal second base and then steal first base?  You can’t make these things up! “Bizarre...

Peralta looks to lead Crew to 7th straight win

While the streaking Milwaukee Brewers will try to sweep another home series against division rival Chicago, Wily Peralta is hoping a matchup with the Cubs will help him earn his first win of the season. After a solid performance against Chicago earlier this month, the right-hander will try to duplicate that effort while leading the Brewers to a seventh straight win Sunday afternoon...

Brewers 5, Cubs 4

Ryan Braun hit a three-run homer, and Jean Segura produced some bizarre baserunning in the Milwaukee Brewers' 5-4 win over the Chicago Cubs on Friday night. Segura somehow wound up safe at first base after attempting to steal third, only to later be thrown out attempting to steal second base again. It didn't matter, though, because Braun went deep against Jeff Samardjiza...

Brewers-Padres Preview

Though he's yet to really get going, Ryan Braun continues to come up big when the Milwaukee Brewers need him most. Braun and the Brewers go for an eighth consecutive victory Monday night when they open a three-game set against the slumping San Diego Padres at Petco Park. While Braun is mired in a 5-for-32 slump, four of those hits have left the yard - including a go-ahead,...
