Royals recall Chen over Ponson to start against Pirates

The Royals opted for a veteran lefty, Bruce Chen, over a veteran righty, Sidney Ponson, as their starting pitcher for the second game of the series tonight at PNC Park. Ponson, who the International Baseball Federation announced Friday had tested positive for a stimulant in the World Baseball Classic, remained an option because the failed test does not carry a suspension by Major League Baseball.
