“We’re continuing to make improvements at Richard Petty Motorsports, and we’ve added talented people to our organization this season,” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series organization Richard Petty Motorsports Director of Competition Sammy Johns said in a press release from RPM on Monday.
Apparently, part of that attempt at making improvements is a crew chief and crew swap for its two Sprint Cup teams — the No. 9 with driver Marcos Ambrose and the No. 43 driven by Aric Almirola. The release from RPM announced a crew chief change for the two teams. Mike Ford will move over from the No. 43 team to serve as crew chief on the No. 9, while Todd Parrott with move from the No. 9 to the No. 43. According to the announcement, each crew chief will take his respective crew with him.
“This move is to make sure that we are using that talent to the fullest to get the best results for our teams each weekend,” Johns said.
