Zebulon, N.C. — First baseman Jerrud Sabourin broke out of a slump to drive in four runs in an 8-3 win over the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Sunday afternoon at Five County Stadium. Sabourin, hitting .148 in July, tripled in three in the first and drove in another for the Carolina Mudcats (14-14, 36-62). With plenty of offense and terrific plays defensively, Nick Pasquale (2-6) hurled six scoreless innings for the victory. The sinkballer scattered five hits with two walks. Kellen Moen (1-4) allowed eight runs and eight hits in the loss for the Blue Rocks (14-15, 47-52). Wilmington has dropped seven straight games. Carolina loaded the bases with one out in the first inning, and Tony Wolters broke the ice with a sacrifice fly to left. Up 1-0, Sabourin mashed a liner to center that flew over center fielder Ethan Chapman’s head. The wall rolled all the way to the wall as three runs scored for a 4-0 lead.
