After winning five of six, the New Jersey Devils have dropped back-to-back games to two of the Eastern Conference's best teams.
A home contest against the scuffling Buffalo Sabres may help them head into the All-Star break on a positive note.
The Devils look to extend the Sabres' franchise-record road losing streak to 13 games Tuesday night in each team's final contest before the break.
New Jersey (26-19-2) has lost its last two games by identical 4-1 scores at home to Northeast Division-leading Boston and Atlantic heavyweight Philadelphia. The Devils led the Bruins 1-0 after two periods Thursday before allowing three goals in the first eight minutes of the third. Against the Flyers on Saturday, New Jersey allowed two power-play goals in a home game for the first time this season.
"It's all about competing about top teams and we didn't fare too well against top teams in our conference," goaltender Martin Brodeur said. "Now we're challenging...

Buffalo hadn't won on the road since Dec. 3
The high-priced Buffalo Sabres' tumble from the top of the Eastern Conference to its bottom is just as perplexing to them as it is to most outside observers.
''We're living through it,'' right wing Drew Stafford said Monday before the team departed for Tuesday's game at the New Jersey Devils. ''We're the ones on the ice, and we're the...

Jason Pominvile and Nathan Gerbe scored in a shootout and Ryan Miller made 27 saves as the Buffalo Sabres snapped a 12-game losing streak on the road with a 2-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night.
Well well well, another one goal effort by New Jersey results in a third straight loss. New Jersey fell to a slumping Buffalo squad that had lost their last 5 games before walking into Newark, along with a miserable 10 game record of 2-7-1. Through three periods it seemed like New Jersey was eventually, and, i'd like to STRESS the word EVENTUALLY, (becuase thats how the last...
via Sports Illustrated, Which goalie could drop the pads and skate a shift if needed?
Mike Smith, Coyotes 19%
Martin Brodeur, Devils 17%

Carey Price, Canadiens 8%
Ray Emery, Blackhawks 5%
Smith can clearly do it all: In his first professional win, with the ECHL Lexington Men-O-War, he had a shutout and scored a goal. Less than a month later...
