Pass The Pill:
Back in the late 90′s early 2000′s, when the Kings were one of the best teams in the league led by Vlade Divac, Chris Webber, Peja Stojakovic, and Mike Bibby, the Kings had one of the best home court advantages in the league due to their loud fans. During that time, I believed that aside from maybe Salt Lake City, Sacramento was the toughest place to play in the NBA. Small market cities where the NBA team is the only pro team in town are always hard to play in because these teams are the only ticket in town, and so the whole city puts their heart and soul into supporting that team.
The Sacramento Kings’ fans are trying to further validate this belief by setting the new Guinness Book of World Records’ record for loudest indoor arena this Friday night against the Detroit Pistons, which will air live on ESPN. Given that they have almost lost their team to another city, this truly is a great chance for the city of Sacramento to show that they still deserve an NBA team, which is why I hope they break the record! I figure we will see and hear a lot of cowbells; a staple to any loud Sacramento crowd. Perhaps we will even see Christopher Walken at the game yelling “I need more cowbell.”

The Sacramento Kings set a Guinness world record tonight for the loudest indoor arena in sports. The fan noise clocked in 119.5 decibels for the record. The Kings have boasted one of the most raucous crowds in sports throughout the years—most notably during the Chris Webber days of the late ’90s and early ’00s. This is a welcome story for a franchise which has endured seasons...
The Sacramento Kings who play at Sleep Train Arena, (the irony!), want to break the indoor noise record this Friday, November 15th, against the Pistons.
It’s the only nationally televised game for the Kings this year, so that already has the fans in a buzz, as their record currently doesn’t (1-5). And on top of that, they’re playing a Pistons team, who had playoff aspirations...
The Kings will try to make the record books Friday night vs. Detroit. A judge from the Guinness World Records will be in Sacramento to measure sound levels as they try to break the record for indoor crowd noise. The game will also air on ESPN, the Kings only game on the channel this season. They will have to top 106.6 decibels, set at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, home of the...
For a month, Kings coach Michael Malone talked about how Marcus Thornton might thrive like a player he watched his father, Brendan, coach in Detroit.
Vinnie Johnson was one of the most prolific bench scorers for the Pistons during the 1980s, helping Detroit win back-to-back NBA championships in 1989 and 1990. He picked up the nickname “The Microwave” for how quickly he could...
Marcus Thornton scored a season-high 24 points after losing his starting spot to rookie Ben McLemore, and the Sacramento Kings snapped a five-game losing streak by beating the Brooklyn Nets 107-86 on Wednesday night.
Greivis Vasquez had 17 points and 12 assists, and Isaiah Thomas added 19 points, six assists and six rebounds to help the Kings blowout Brooklyn. Sacramento led by...
In a matter of seconds, rookie guard Ben McLemore showed off many of the attributes the Kings need and that he adds.
In the second quarter of Saturday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers, forward Dorrel Wright appeared on his way to the basket for an easy layup.
But McLemore tracked down Wright and swatted the ball off the backboard and was called for goaltending.
Following the Iman Shumpert / Kenneth Faried trade rumors this week, the Sacramento Kings have reportedly showed interest in the Knicks swingman.
According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com:
More and more folks around the league see some sort of Shumpert deal materializing sooner rather than later, given that he’s New York’s only real asset of value to make an in-season move and with...
The Kings ended their five-game losing streak by blowing out the Brooklyn Nets, 107-86.
The Kings held the Nets to 37.8 percent shooting, their best defensive effort of the season.
This was the first time Malone's been happy after a game since the season opener.
"I loved the defense," Malone said. "Tonight was the closest that we have come to playing a full...
The Kings haven't gotten off to a great start so far this season, but the same can't be said for DeMarcus Cousins. Sacramento's center has been dominant, averaging 23.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game on 49% shooting

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Josh Smith had 21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, and the Detroit Pistons snapped a four-game skid with a 97-90 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.
The Pistons built a 10-point advantage after three quarters and their lead remained in double figures for much of the fourth quarter as Detroit won its first road game of the season...

Something has to change for the Sacramento Kings. For all his shortcomings and brainfarts on the court, DeMarcus Cousins is a legit 25-10 threat every night, so he’s not going anywhere. First year head coach...
Marcus Thornton came off the bench and was scorching hot immediately. He scored 24 points on 10-19 shooting. He also added four three-pointers.,
There really isn't much to say about this one other than that the Kings knew there was a game tonight, and prepared for it accordingly, while the Nets did not. Losing their third game in a row overall--and fourth in a row...
DeMarcus Cousins and Greg Monroe are emerging big men who were selected two spots apart in the 2010 draft.
Their head-to-head matchups have been fairly close statistically, but Monroe's Detroit Pistons have generally gotten the better of Cousins' Sacramento Kings.
Both will be in the spotlight Friday night in Sacramento in a meeting of 2-5 teams that have struggled from...
