In a match that Southampton showed their skill and guile, the Reds were left limping with a makeshift back four to start the day. While the Reds were strong in the opening 10 minutes of the match, the Saints would prove to be too much to handle as they stunned Liverpool with a 1-0 win. The Saints controlled the midfield battle closing down the Reds in the center of the pitch making it impossible for play to build with Gerrard and Lucas. Being able to settle in to the match, the visitors from the south coast made sure to put pressure on the league leaders and never seemed to look back. Putting the new-look back four of Sakho, Agger, Skrtel, and Torre under constant pressure and discomfort, Reds keeper Simon Mignolet had to be sharp. The best chance for the Reds to take the lead occurred in the 21st minute when a free kick from about 27 yards out was taken by skipper Steven Gerrard that he ripped towards goal only to see Artur Boruc make a spectacular save. The Saints were on the marc...

Saints' Rob Ryan putting a lot of rookie Vaccaro's shoulders

New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan says that his utlization of the team's 2013 15th overall pick, safety Kenny Vaccaro is the most he's ever "put on a rookie's plate" in his 10 years as an NFL defensive coordinator. Report: Saints RB Mark Ingram May Ask To Be Traded

Jason La Canfora of ESPN reports that New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram could seek a trade out of New Orleans in the weeks leading up the NFL trade deadline. Ingram is currently third on the Saint’s depth chart, which includes a total of five running backs. The Saints have Ingram sharing carries with Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles, so this isn’t exactly the type of role...

Saints Nation: Saints Will Have Luxury of a Rotation on Defensive Line Against the Cardinals

The Saints carry seven defensive linemen on their 53 man roster and last week the snaps went almost entirely to three players: Akiem Hicks, John Jenkins and Cam Jordan. That wasn't by design, mind you, because when Tom Johnson went down early in the first quarter, that made him the fourth injured lineman out of seven on the roster. Missing time along with Johnson are Brodrick...

QB Drew Brees wants to get the offense rolling against Cardinals: 'There is a big sense of urgency'

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees knows the first two week the offense hasn't operated at their optimum best. Brees, who already has been sacked six times, will line up behind an offensive line that could be without right guard Jahri Evans for the first time in 122 games. However, Brees has thrown for three touchdowns and three interceptions and averaged 318.5 yards through...

Mark Ingram May Ask For a Trade

Mark Ingram may ask for a trade if his role in the Saints' offense doesn't increase. SOURCE: Jason La Canfora, CBS SportsFantasy Spin:The former Heisman Trophy winner hasn't really had a chance to utilize his impressive skill set in Sean Payton's pass dominant scheme. In terms of a trade affecting his fantasy value, it wouldn't matter anyway right now because...

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Drew Brees passed for three scores and scrambled for New Orleans' first touchdown rushing of the season, leading the Saints to a 31-7 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Saints vs Dolphins: Perfection at stake

The Saints are now 3-0 for the first time since their Super Bowl run in 2009, and this past Sunday's victory against the Cardinals definitely feels better for the Black and Gold because it was such a decisive win, 31-7, compared to the narrow wins the Saints ground out in Weeks 1 and 2. Statistics show 75 percent of the teams that start 3-0 make the playoffs, but head coach...

Brees, Saints rout Cardinals

NFC West harrowing gauntlet for New Orleans Saints

The NFC West has been a thorn in the side of the New Orleans Saints (2-0) for some time now. Every one of the Saints’ recent contests against this division has ended in a loss. Saints Nation: Saints Move to 3-0, Drop Cardinals 31-7

Now that's what I like to see! Not to say that there wasn't some struggles involved in this win, but a 31-7 drubbing is about as much as you could ask for as the Saints move to 3-0, comfortably atop the NFC South. The story of these first three weeks continues to be the shocking and incredibly unexpected performance by the defense. For the third straight week the Saints have...

Saints vs Cardinals: 3 and “0″ That Was Fun!

You know how it is when you’re in a new relationship and you feel a certain way about the other person, but you’re just not sure when it’s safe to say it? Maybe you’re just blinded by the “newness” of it all. Maybe you need more time to see if what you’re getting from the other person is the “real deal”. Maybe revealing how you feel will freak them out. You...

Saints Nation: Offensive Player Grades vs. Cardinals

Quite a strange performance by the offense in this one, which turned in negative yards rushing in the first half before finishing with 104 yards on 24 carries thanks to finding some lanes late. Luckily the passing attack was mostly effective despite Brees being under constant duress. It was clear the only way to move the ball was going to be to spread things out. I will say, the...

Mark Ingram is Inactive

New Orleans halfback Mark Ingram (toe) won't be available Sunday versus the Cardinals.Fantasy Spin:Even when he's played, Ingram hasn't been much of a factor this season (just 1.8 yards per carry). Pierre Thomas will get more carries with Ingram sidelined though probably still not enough to warrant a start in fantasy.
