Found July 12, 2013 on Awful Announcing:
Apparently, last night the SyFy channel showed some sort of poor man's Jaws, Sharknado. I mean, I didn't watch it, but I assumed it was Emmy worthy because it was starring one Ian Ziering. However, it was apparently a disaster. Yes, an even bigger disaster than Lindsay Lohan in Liz & Dick. #Sharknado was trending on Twitter pretty quickly, and ESPN took it upon themselves to ask the San Jose Sharks if they'd consider changing their name. Hey @espn, thoughts on showing more hockey highlights? — San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) July 12, 2013 Whoever runs the Sharks Twitter handle is a genius. It is a valid question by the Sharks, considering ESPN's idea of NHL highlights is showing clips of Justin Bieber and LeBron James bandwagon hopping. The San Jose Sharks have won the internet today, so you can all feel free to start happy hour early. Thanks to Twitter user @GabePride for the screenshot. [Twitter]

San Jose Sharks own ESPN on Twitter

The San Jose Sharks were not at all amused when the ESPN Twitter account suggested the franchise call itself the #Sharknados. Check out the epic response.

San Jose Sharks Blast ESPN Over Lack of NHL Highlights for ‘Sharknado’ Joke on Twitter

To whoever runs the San Jose Sharks’ Twitter account: Bravo. It’s no secret that a common criticism of ESPN is that it doesn’t show enough hockey highlights. While Skip Bayless somehow manages to continue to get airtime, many NHL fans feel the sport is underrepresented on The Worldwide Leader in Sports. So perhaps it it were someone else making the joke, the Sharks would let...

San Jose Sharks Rookie Scrimmage — Photo Gallery

It was a fun night at Sharks Ice in San Jose Thursday evening, watching the Sharks’ future stars battle it out against each other. Team Ricci and Team Marchment ended regulation all tied up before the score was finally broken up in a five-minute overtime, with Team Marchment pulling out the victory. The two sides then competed in a quick shootout to showcase the scoring talent...

Sharks Showcase Prospects at Summer Scrimmage

Sharks fans with the emptiness of the offseason got a taste of hockey in July and a glimpse into the future of their team Thursday night at Sharks Ice at San Jose as the team’s top young talent was on display in the Sharks Prospect Summer Scrimmage. There was plenty of speed, skill, and fancy puck-handling to be seen, with minimal hitting and physicality in the mid-summer spectacle...

San Jose Sharks Twitter Guy ***** On ESPN

This is via Terezowens, and it’s fantastic. With SyFy’s SHARKNADO! movie reaching every part of the internet today, ESPN decided to try and bandwagon hop to manufacture some crossover appeal. You know, because manufacturing is all ESPN knows how to do, and it’s been working out great. Well, the San Jose Sharks twitter guy didn’t find it so funny, and he’s now my new hero...

San Jose Sharks destroy ESPN’s lame attempt at ‘Sharknado’ inspired Twitter humor

Sharknado was the cultural phenomenon that America, nay the world, sorely needed to help us remember why it’s great to be alive in these times. Playing off the Tara Reid/Ian Ziering vehicle’s viral popularity, ESPN’s official Twitter account reached out to the San Jose Sharks official Twitter account to ask them if they’d consider a name change in the wake of Sharknado...

Slow Clap…San Jose Sharks ***** Slap ESPN’s Twitter Account

ESPN tries to throw a lob to the Sharks and succeeds. The lesson here for @ESPN is that the social media people on the left coast aren’t to be f**ked with. They’re awake early and ready to slam your head…

‘NHL 94′ Making a Modernized Comeback in EA Sports’ ‘NHL 14′ Edition (Video)

Long before Jeremy Roenick was just some media member with frosted tips talkin’ puck for NBC Sports and other hockey outlets, he was a legend on the ice — both real and fake. Hockey fans from the 1980s and 90s recognize Roenick as not only one of the best players in the NHL, but in EA Sports’ NHL 94 video game, too. In fact, he was flat-out dominant in what’s considered one...

San Jose not amused by 'Sharknado'

On Thursday night, a terrible/awesome science fiction film called "Sharknado" debuted on Syfy and caused quite the stir on Twitter , where countless viewers were chomping at the bit to debate the merits of the movie, which depicted a storm resulting in killer sharks taking over Los Angeles. No, really, that was the plot. Anyway, the San Jose Sharks were not as amused...

Lindsay Lohan’s ‘The Canyons’ finally has trailer

Official Trailer For The Canyons (Yes, It Is Finally Coming Out)

While gearing up to watch Sharknado tonight, I almost missed this little nugget that popped up in my Google Reader Feedly feed (god, that sounds redundant). IFC Films has picked up The Canyons, the Lindsay Lohan vehicle that could very well be the biggest trainwreck in recent Hollywood history (non-big budget category, that is). If you don’t know anything about it, read this fantastic...
