TUCSON, Ariz. -- Seton Hall secured a pair of Sunday victories and swept the Arizona baseball team in a three-game series at Hi Corbett Field. The Pirates won the resumption of Saturday’s suspended game, 4-2, before cruising to an 11-2 victory Sunday afternoon to complete the sweep. Seton Hall improved to 7-2 on the season with the three weekend victories and became the first non-conference opponent to sweep Arizona Hi Corbett Field since the Wildcats moved into the ballpark in 2012. Arizona fell to 6-5 on the season and was swept by a non-conference opponent at home for the first time since dropping three contests against Georgia in 2009, when the school hosted games on campus at Jerry Kindall Field at Frank Sancet Stadium. In the resumption of Saturday’s suspended game, Seton Hall withstood a late rally and knocked off Arizona, 4-2. The Pirates entered the day holding a 1-0 lead after rain suspended Saturday’s game in the middle of the fourth inning. Tyler Boyd, who hit a solo homer in the top of the fourth yesterday, hit a two-out, two-run double in the sixth to push Seton Hall’s lead to 3-0. Arizona trailed 4-1 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, before mounting a rally against closer Conor Krauss. Zach Gibbons walked, Scott Kingery doubled and Kevin Newman walked to load the bases for Trent Gilbert, whose ground out drove in a run and advance the tying run to scoring position. Pinch-hitter Willie Calhoun drew a walk to re-load the bases, before Krauss induced a game-ending groundout by Riley Moore. Reliever Sam Burum (1-0) earned the victory with two innings of scoreless relief in place of yesterday’s starter, Anthony Elia. Arizona starter Cody Hamlin (2-1), who threw four innings and gave up one run on Saturday, took the loss. Krause earned his second save of the season. The Pirates capitalized on their scoring chances, driving in all four runs with two outs. The Wildcats, meanwhile, hit just 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position. In the series finale, the Pirates jumped all over the Wildcats with a run in the first inning, three in the second and two more in third to claim an early 6-0 advantage. Arizona started freshman right-hander Morgan Earman (1-1), who took the loss after allowing three runs on two hits and two walks over one-plus innings. D.J. Ruhlman went 4-for-5 with three runs scored to lead a 15-hit attack for Seton Hall. Chris Seldon added two hits and a run scored to go with a game-high four runs batted in. Starter Luke Cahill (2-1) tossed a solid 5.0 innings to earn the win. The righty allowed just two earned runs on five hits and a walk. He struck out three.
