Arizona's John Skelton will be back at starting quarterback when the Cardinals play the Seahawks Sunday in Seattle. Coach Ken Whisenhunt says his decision to replace rookie Ryan Lindley was based on several factors, including the environment the Cardinals will face in Seattle, where the crowd is among the loudest in the NFL and the conditions are likely to be cold and wet. Skelton says he is taking nothing for granted and just wants to complete more passes than he did when he was benched in favor of Lindley three games ago. Lindley says he understands the decision. Whisenhunt refused to replace Lindley with Skelton despite the Cardinals' woeful offensive performance in a 7-6 road loss to the New York Jets last Sunday. Arizona has lost eight in a row.

Arizona Cardinals clearly have no plan for the future at QB

It has been no secret that the Arizona Cardinals have had a quarterback competition all year long.  Although John Skelton was named the Week 1 starter, soon he and Kevin Kolb began battling injuries and it became a week-to-week decision on who would start at quarterback.  Now that the season in past the mid-point and the Cardinals are on their third quarterback of the year, Ryan...

Cardinals confirm rookie Ryan Lindley will in fact start on Sunday

Ryan Lindley will be the Cardinals’ Week 12 starter at quarterback. John Skelton has been benched. Lindley should remain the starter until Kevin Kolb (ribs, shoulder) is cleared to return, which could be as early as Week 13. According to NFL.com’s Albert Breer, the Cardinals “really like” Lindley and were “waiting for the right time” to start him. That’s all good and...

Arizona Cardinals: Week 12 NFL Power Rankings (#22)

Last week: 23 (+1) Record: 4-6 I’ve watched a lot of football, but I saw two things I’ve never seen before in the Falcons/Cardinals game this week. First, Matt Ryan won despite throwing 5 interceptions and no touchdowns, the first time that’s happened since the merger (Bart Starr did it last). Second, the Cardinals benched John Skelton despite a 13-0 lead. I don’t have any...

Cardinals Prepared To Start QB Ryan Lindley?

Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic writes that Cardinals starting quarterback job will most likely remain Ryan Lindley‘s until Kevin Kolb is ready to return from his rib injury. Arizona benched John Skelton after he was 2-7 for just 6 yards passing. Lindley didn’t fare much better as he finished 9-of-20 for 64 yards and had a fumble returned for a touchdown. “He...

Cardinals QB Ryan Lindley Will Start Week 12

According to Kent Somers of AzCentral.com reports that QB Ryan Lindley will start at quarterback for the Cardinals week 12. QB John Skelton has been officially benched due to his inefficiency, and with QB Kevin Kolb injured Lindley gets an opportunity to show what he has to offer. That being said it is unlikely Lindley will turn things around for the Cardinals because of the terrible...

Arizona Cardinals expected to start draft pick Ryan Lindley

The Arizona Republic expects Ryan Lindley to remain the Cardinals’ starter until Kevin Kolb (ribs) is able to return.Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Monday he isn’t prepared to name his Week 12 starter yet. But he’s likely seen enough of John Skelton, who was given a quick hook in the second quarter of last week’s loss to the Falcons. Lindley was just 9-of-20 for 64 yards, but...

Quarterback quandary not all Cardinals' doing

TEMPE, Ariz. With coach Ken Whisenhunts announcement Wednesday that rookie Ryan Lindley will start Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, we asked a veteran Cardinals reporter if it was time to craft a Lindley opus for his audience. Not yet, he said, smiling. The response wasnt intended as a slight on Lindley. Rather, it was born of wisdom and experience. Lindley will be the fifth...
