Louisville Football: Injury Update

Charlie Strong and his staff don’t elaborate much when it comes to injuries. When a player is injured there usually isn’t a formal release or anything of that nature. Most of the time news leaks out about a player who may be banged up or the media just notices when certain players are held out of practice. With the Cards heading into their last two-a-day practice sessions on...

Charlie Strong fires up the UofL Marching Band

The better football programs usually have marching bands to match, and the University of Louisville is seeking greatness on both fronts. After an early morning practice Tuesday, Charlie Strong took his team over to Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, not for still more conditioning or for special plays. No, he wanted his players to see the marching band at work. “What we sometimes...

A Few Notable Names No Longer On The Louisville Football Roster

With over 100 guys on the team, its not uncommon to see a few names disappear from college football rosters over the years. While nearly all of the contributors from Charlie Strong’s 2012 team are returning, there are a few names that are no longer on the roster. We can only assume that these guys are no longer members of the team. Jalen Harrington, Fullback/Tight End: Harrington...

Coach Strong Pleased With The Cards First Scrimmage

Charlie Strong and the Louisville Cardinals conducted their first official scrimmage of the fall camp on Saturday morning. Although there is still room for improvement, Charlie Strong seemed very pleased with his team today. “We had a really good day today,” head coach Charlie Strong said after the scrimmage. “Just offensively, Teddy did a good job of throwing the football...

Louisville Football Position Preview: Wide Receivers

The Wide Receiver position at the University of Louisville is one of the most commonly known amongst fans, but interestingly enough has a few unknown components to how its depth chart will play out. Local product DeVante Parker and Damian “Honey Mustard” Copeland are your likely starters day one on the outside.  At this point, that is the only thing that seems to be certain...

Fan Day mostly business for Louisville football

While the turnout was probably better than the average, Fan Day definitely loses some of the personal touch when youngsters aren’t able to seek autographs or come face to face with their favorite University of Louisville football players. Strictly a business session, with few of the extras normally present at Fan Day. Only one bouncy attraction that wasn’t attracting many kids...

Offseason Update: Doug Gottlier Is Still A D-Bag

We’re now just two weeks away until the Louisville Cardinals kick off the 2013 football season. With the AP Poll being released on Saturday, we’re officially in waiting mode. Louisville is ranked No. 9 in both polls which is their highest preseason ranking in school history. I like to think most Cardinal fans are realists and are aware that there are plenty of people out there...

Position series feature: Eli Rogers

University of Louisville junior Eli Rogers is once again expected to be a major contributor for the Cardinals’ offense this season. Rogers played high school ball with U of L quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Louisville football news and notes

We are now officially less than two weeks away from Louisville’s home opener and the excitement is really starting to build. Fans were given one last chance to take a look at the Cards before the season begins at an open practice Sunday at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Dressed in shoulder pads, helmets, and shorts, the football Cardinals went through some 7 on 7 drills, as well...

Position series feature: Damian Copeland

University of Louisville senior Damian Copeland had a breakout junior season and now has more expectations this time around for the Cardinals. Copeland will be one of quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s top targets on offense.

Report: Louisville Getting Involved With Sharp-Shooter Robert Johnson

Despite Quentin Snider’s de-commitment last month, it didn’t appear that Rick Pitino and his staff would attempt to add another guard to fill Snider’s spot. Louisville already has commitments from two of the top guards in the 2014 class in JaQuan Lyle and Shaqquan Aaron. Pitino also brought in a dynamic backcourt in the 2013 class. New York native Isaiah Whitehead and former...

What not to expect on Fan Day

Seems to be a lot of confusion regarding what’s actually happening on Fan Day at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium on Sunday. What we’ve been able to surmise is that won’t be a full scale scrimmage, despite what has been repeated from many sources. The University of Louisville football team held a scrimmage Saturday. No way Charlie Strong is putting his troops through that two...

Michael Johnson Talking Football

Michael Johnson is one of twenty five verbal commitments for head coach Charlie Strong and the Louisville football program. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound three star safety talks about the experience of the recruiting process.

In early July Alexander told both the Courier-Journal and NY2LASports.com that Louisville would be one of the five schools to receive an official visit, however he hadn’t scheduled a date. At this point, Alexander...

Goodluck Okonoboh No Longer Considering Louisville

According to ESPN’s Adam Finkelstein, four-star big man, Goodluck Okonoboh, has trimmed his list to five. Rick Pitino and the Cards did not make the cut. Okonoboh is reportedly down to Florida, Duke, Indiana, Ohio State & UNLV, in no particular order. The 6-foot-10, 240-pound prospect was actively being pursued by Louisville during the early part of the summer, however things...
