While you'd think a team with the most wins in baseball would be chock full of All-Stars, only three Red Sox were named to this year's AL All-Star Team: David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, Clay Buchholz.   To hear the players and managers talk about it, the lack of representation from the squad doesn't seem to matter.   From the Herald: “Do I want to be an All-Star? Of course,” Victorino said. “I’m sure everyone in this room wants to be an All-Star as a reward for what you do in a season. But you check that at the door at the end of the day and say, ‘(Expletive) it, let’s go win a World Series.’ ” “I think everybody recognizes those three All-Stars, but (the rest) can care less that they aren’t All-Stars,” bench coach Torey Lovullo said. “Their eyes are on a bigger prize.” People say "the right thing" most of the time, and we don't always buy it.  But I'm sold on this topic.  First off, it's the All-Star game.  While it's prestigious, and certainly an honor, not being elected means a few extra days at home with your family to rest in the middle of a long, grueling season.  That's not a bad consolation prize. But more than that, winning is awesome.  And while not everyone who's contributing to this team was around for last year's misery, being part of a successful, harmonious clubhouse has to feel great.  Push the individual awards and recognition aside, these guys seem legitimately happy to go to work this year.  And it shows.  So when they tell me they say '(Expletive) it' to the All-Star game, I believe them.  Let's go win a World Series.
