When Anthony Spencer underwent left knee surgery July 25 there was a thought he would miss two to four weeks with a goal of playing in one preseason game and at least participating in the regular-season opener against the New York Giants. It didn't happen. Spencer made his debut last week in the Week 2 game against the Kansas City Chiefs after only three total practices. He said he was sore after Sunday's game and didn't practice Wednesday. However Spencer said he will get days off during the season until his knee feels better. Team officials described Spencer's knee surgery as minor. "I have like soft cartilage on the inner side of my knee that's causing [the pain]" Spencer said. "It's not stopping the banging of the bone. It's going to take a little bit more time to heal and we really don't have time right now." When you hear about banging of bones in the knee it raises questions about the long-term health of a player...

Why do we always blame Tony Romo?

Tony Romo (@SportsNation) Every game, every season, whatever the outcome, Tony Romo is always the butt of every joke, the player to blame, and the focus of upset Cowboy fans. Is it really his fault though? If it is then why would Cowboys Owner and General Manager, Jerry Jones give Tony Romo such a large new contract and guarantee him more money than Superbowl winning quarterback...

Jerry Jones names Brian Waters as a starter

Jerry Jones indicated during a radio interview with Dallas’ KRLD-FM that veteran Guard Brian Waters will get the starting nod over Mackenzy Bernadeau at RG. Waters is a 6 time Pro Bowler that has impressed Jones. “We thought Waters played good for the number of snaps he (had),” Jones said on his radio show aired on Dallas’ KRLD-FM. “So Waters will be in there. That...

Dallas Cowboys: 2013 Week 3 NFL Power Rankings (#7)

Last week: 7 Kansas City is a good team that’s going to the playoffs so there’s no shame in losing by 1 in Kansas City. Dallas is only going to get better as Anthony Spencer and Jay Ratliff return from injury, along with Brian Waters, signed out of retirement, taking over as the starter at right guard. He didn’t play last year and he’s definitely over the hill in football...

Witten humbled to pass Sharpe, but more concerned with winning

IRVING, Texas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten said he was humbled to pass Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe on the all-time receptions list for tight ends on Sunday. "It's special," Witten said. "I really think for any tight end around my age, Shannon Sharpe was the guy you looked to in Denver, him and Elway and what they were able to achieve. "To pass him,...

Will Cowboys rip the Band-Aid with position change?

IRVING, Texas -- A Dallas Cowboys transition from 10-year NFL safety Will Allen to fast-learning rookie J.J. Wilcox will not be executed the way Mom used to tell you to remove a bandage from a wound. You know, "Rip it off fast, so it stings less." This change figures to be gradual. And maybe painful. But in the end, it will hopefully be a permanent solution in the secondary...

Cowboys not running ball under new OC Callahan

One of the benefits of not calling offensive plays in the NFL is that someone else can receive the blame for a stunning lack of balance. If only Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett had learned that lesson a year or two earlier. Since taking over play calling duties for the Cowboys in 2007, Garrett has on many occasions been accused of relying too heavily on the pass. When it was awkwardly...

Cowboys run-game pledge sounds like trouble

IRVING, Texas -- There are certain sounds that are evocative enough to promise trouble is upon you. It's when you hear the squealing of tires braking on pavement, when you hear a chorus of children singing hauntingly in a scary movie, when you hear your wife say, "We need to talk." The noise that causes those same sort of chills to run up the spines of Dallas Cowboys...

That's something that we're working...

Dez Bryant Retweets Draya’s Vagina Photo and Cowboys Fans Aren’t Pleased

It came as a surprise to no one that Dez Bryant didn’t do any of his classwork at Oklahoma State, because he isn’t the brightest guy around.  With that being said I am going to cut him a little slack here. While on Twitter last night this exchange took place between Bryant and Basketball Wives Draya courtesy of The Big Lead. Now, I am not going to post the Vagina in question...

Preview: Rams, Cowboys both must rebound from Week 2 losses

The Dallas Cowboys finished 2012 averaging the fewest rushing yards per game in team history as DeMarco Murray nursed an injury for most of the season. The running game hasn't been any better through the first two weeks this season despite Murray being healthy, and he's placing most of the blame on himself heading into Sunday's home matchup with the St. Louis Rams. ...

Same Old Dallas Cowboys

We’ve all seen this movie before. The Dallas Cowboys started the season on fire. They forced the New York Giants to commit 6 turnovers. The last time the Cowboys forced that many turnovers in a game was 2003, and I was 9 years old. Most of the time when a team causes that many turnovers it’s a blowout. However, the Giants still had a chance to win that game in the fourth...

Has Dez Bryant Forgotten His Promise to Michael Jordan?

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver is an incredible talent. That is something that no one can argue with (unless they are just trying to be a pain in the behind). However, off the field he has been somewhat of an embarrassment with a lot of his antics. He appeared to get past them last season finally. Tack on an incredible season on the field and he became a pretty marketable...
