PLAYERS: Elton Brand
TEAMS: Dallas Mavericks
DALLAS (AP) -- Tony Parker missed about a quarter of Friday's game against Dallas after taking three stitches for a cut above the left eye. It is the same eye that the San Antonio guard almost seriously hurt when he got caught in a bottle-throwing incident last summer. Parker was injured in a collision with Elton Brand on a drive early in the first quarter. No foul was called, and Parker stayed down alone under the basket covering his left eye for about 20 seconds during a Dallas possession on the other end. After returning early in the second quarter, Parker hit three straight shots and finished the first half with 10 points. Parker was a bystander at a New York club when tiny shards of glass from a broken bottle embedded in the cornea of his left eye.

Mavs Struggle While Challenging Elite

The Dallas Mavericks have officially crawled out of the terrible category in the NBA. Despite only averaging 13.9 points per game on 41% shooting, Dirk Nowitzki’s return to the lineup and him settling into his standard role has given the Mavs a legitimate on-court identity. With the boost from their superstar, Dallas has improved enough [...]
