After getting shut out in a 9-0 loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium, many expected the St. Louis Cardinals bats to wake up from a deep slumber in time for Monday's tilt with the Cincinnati Reds in town. Unfortunately, the Cardinals' bats were held silent once again and St. Louis wasted a solid performance from ace Adam Wainwright in a 2-1 loss to the Reds. Wainwright, who saw his record drop to 4-2 on the season after the loss, pitched well enough to win on most nights. The game started badly for Wainwright in the first as Reds' leadoff man Shin Soo Choo started the game with a leadoff double and just two hitters later, first baseman Joey Votto drove Choo home with a sharply hit single to center to give the Reds the lead before most fans had taken their seats. Wainwright settled down from there and pitched seven innings, allowing just two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six. Wainwright pitched well and deserved a better ...

Adam Wainwright: Bad barbecue makes me want to fight somebody

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright loves baseball. If he didn’t, he probably would not be pitching professionally. But there is something in life he seems to love much, much more. That something is barbecue. During a Q&A with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch earlier this week, Wainwright discussed how big of a foodie he considers himself to be. When Derrick Goold asked...

Adam Wainwright Imagines Self as Food Critic, Says Bad Barbecue ‘Makes Me Want to Fight Somebody’

Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright may be off to a hot start, with a 2.03 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in six starts so far this season. However, the man isn’t just a pitcher, he’s a human being with many eclectic interests. Wainwright recently sat down with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch to talk about being a foodie, among other topics. The 31-year-old right-hander also spoke about subjects...

Wainwright, Cards welcome Reds back to Busch

(AP) -- The Cincinnati Reds didn't face Adam Wainwright in their visit to Busch Stadium earlier this month. They won't be so fortunate this time around. Wainwright will try to help the St. Louis Cardinals avoid a season-high third consecutive loss on Monday night when these NL Central foes renew their rivalry. Trying to build off a season-opening 4-2 homestand, the Reds...

Adam Wainwright will literally fight you over bad barbecue and we can't argue that

Basically, the 2010 Cy Young Award runner-up Adam Wainwright loves barbecue, but don't let him catch you messing up what could have been a perfectly good piece of meat.

Bad body language has no place in baseball

The way Tom Hallion describes it, David Price swore at him with his body language in yesterday's game and he responded, verbally. This makes total sense to me.  Lord knows I've seen plenty of bad body language.  Having 3 small kids, it is a daily occurrence.  So, from now on, you know what I'm going to do?  Anytime I catch my kids using bad body language, I'...

St. Louis Cardinals Purchase Contract Of Seth Maness

The St. Louis Cardinals have purchased the contract of right handed pitcher Seth Maness. Blessed with exquisite control, and a solid arm, he should provide the Cardinals with a decent arm in the bullpen. He was pitching for Triple-A Memphis. Cardinals' Jason Motte 'felt good' after throwing

The St. Louis Cardinals' bullpen is in sorry shape, and the team is hoping to get closer Jason Motte back at some point this year. The right-hander offered good news yesterday, as he told Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com that he "felt good" after playing catch for the second consecutive day. Motte -- who was diagnosed with a ligament tear in his right elbow earlier this...

Latos outduels Wainwright as Red top Cardinals 2-1

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Mat Latos outpitched Adam Wainwright, extending his scoreless innings streak to 17, and the Cincinnati Reds got an RBI apiece from Joey Votto and Xavier Paul in a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night. Aroldis Chapman worked a perfect ninth for his sixth save in six chances. Yadier Molina had an RBI double off Jonathan Broxton that produced the...

Holliday, Garcia lead Cards to 2-1 win over Reds

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Matt Holliday hit a two-run homer, Jaime Garcia continued his mastery of Cincinnati with eight strong innings and the St. Louis Cardinals snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Reds on Tuesday night. Garcia (3-1) gave up one run on seven hits, struck out three and did not walk a batter. The left-hander improved to 7-0 in eight starts against...

St. Louis Cardinals versus Cincinnati Reds: The rivalry continues

The St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds have become some of baseball’s most bitter rivals. Being two of the best teams in the National League seems to enhance the competitiveness felt between them and there is a fierce ongoing battle between the Reds and Cardinals fans and players. The St Louis Cardinals are one of the oldest franchises in Major League Baseball and have...

St. Louis Cardinals beat Cincinnati Reds 2-1 behind solid outing by Jaime Garica

St. Louis Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia came into the 2013 with mixed expectations after he struggled on the road and with injuries throughout 2012. So far, so good for Garcia this season and especially on Tuesday night as the lefty tossed eight solid innings to lift the Cardinals to a 2-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Garcia's eight innings were dominant as he did not surrender...

One more in St. Louis

After yesterday's late comeback victory, the Pirates find themselves in the same place that they were in when this series started on Friday -- a half-game behind the Cardinals. If the Pirates win today, they'll move into first place in the division and they'll ensure themselves at least five wins on this 10-game road trip no matter what happens in Milwaukee next week...

Pirates-Cardinals Preview

(AP) -- Shelby Miller is a big reason why St. Louis Cardinals starters own the best ERA in baseball. The rookie will look to gain a measure of revenge against the only team to ever beat him Sunday when the Cardinals and visiting Pittsburgh Pirates complete this three-game set. St. Louis starters have a 2.06 ERA, with the entire rotation allowing two earned runs over 33 2-3 innings...

This Will Do For The Day

I'd like to think I could focus in and write about a big Cardinals win against Reds that re-claimed 1st place in the NL Central.  Can't. Need to watch this all day.
