The Dallas Cowboys are close to being a Super Bowl contender. None other than Roger Staubach said so. Let's hope Jerry Jones wasn't listening. Staubach, the legendary Cowboys quarterback, told The Dallas Morning News that the Cowboys are "headed in the right direction" and referred to Tony Romo as a "franchise quarterback." Staubach, who has always been loyal to his former team, made his comments Monday night during a 40th reunion of the 1971 Cowboys who won Super Bowl VI. The Hall of Famer also praised the work of coach Jason Garrett, who was himself a former Cowboys quarterback. "I think he has the team prepared very well," Staubach said. "It's just a matter of everybody clicking." The 1971 Cowboys were famous for finally winning the big one and shedding the franchise's nickname of "Next Year's Champions." Staubach told The News the current Cowboys are in a similar situation as a team looking to get over...

Playoffs point Cowboys to defense

If the Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones can learn anything as bystanders in the NFL playoffs, it's that defense is what matters. It goes beyond seeing two of the NFL's most prolific offenses, the Saints and Packers, bounced in the divisional round. It's about how teams are built and where foundations need to be laid. The Cowboys clearly don't have a foundation on defense...

Staubach: Romo "Can Do It"

Last week, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Danny White came out in resounding support of current Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. White essentially said that if everyone on the Cowboys played their positions as well as Romo plays quarterback, the team would be perennial Super Bowl contenders. This week, Roger Staubach joined White in the “Former Cowboys QBs In Support of Romo”...

So Dez Bryant Beefing With Weezy At Club LIV In Miami Over The Weekend

Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant is a dumb thug, this we know. He got suspended at Oklahoma State and he’s been dealing with unpaid loans since he’s been in the pros. He’s supposedly got plenty of talent, though. Too bad he didn’t show it in 2011, a season where he caught 63 balls for 928 yards — not bad, but certainly not as advertised. So what is Bryant doing this offseason...

Dez Bryant’s Miami brouhaha may have involved Lil Wayne

On Monday, word emerged that Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant had been detained by police following a fight at a Miami nightclub.  Because Bryant was neither arrested nor charged, the story seemed destined to fade away. Bryant’s mentor, David Wells, has told WFAA-TV that Bryant “got involved in a verbal altercation with some members of a…

After the latest reported off-the-field incident, I'm wondering how much patience will the Cowboys have before they give up on Dez Bryant?
