PLAYERS: Stephen Hill
TEAMS: New York Jets
According to Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger, Jets wide receiver Stephen Hill has been sitting on the sideline lately while his teammates have been on the field practicing. The Jets training staff advised Hill to rest his surgically repaired knee because of some fluid that’s been building up. “I was (expected to be cleared by now),” Hill said. “I was going through some team workouts. At first it kind of swelled up on me a little bit and (trainer John Melody) was like, ‘we don’t need this to happen at all.’” Need NFL Tickets? New York Jets Building An Elite Defense From The Inside Out

When the Jets selected Missouri defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson with the 13th overall pick they acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Darrelle Revis, the fan base was quite shocked. The Jets had taken defensive linemen with their first and third round picks in 2011 (Muhammad Wilkerson and Kenrick Ellis) and also with their first round pick in 2012 (Quinton Coples). With...

New York Jets: Biggest concerns on both sides of the ball

The New York Jets were a comedy of errors in 2012. With an underwhelming offseason that has included the trading away of the team’s best player, a controversial quarterback drafting, the loss of the team’s best quarterback due to injury and the arrest of a running back that many had high hopes for, most are predicting yet another embarrassing season for this team. While the concerns...

95-Day New York Jets Warning – At Least We Have One Landry

Here at Turn On The Jets, we decided to take a page out of Robert Mays book over at Grantland (a polite way of saying rip his article idea off) by counting down the 115 days until the New York Jets kick off, with a daily reason to get excited about their return. Mays has the whole NFL to work with, we only have the Goddamn Jets…now there is a challenge, step your game up Mays...

Glenn Beck’s helping hand offer to Tim Tebow

Tebow! Tebow! Tebow! Buried behind Glenn Beck’s strange and idiotic rant about how terrible RGIII’s new house must be (yes, Glenn, Northern Virginia is very expensive but it’s not on Manhattan’s level and the house is not in Great Falls, it’s in the sticks, so that’s why it is “only” $2.5M), there is an even worse idea. It is a bad idea whose time may have come. I...

Jets' Ryan: QB battle not close to being settled

Rex Ryan says the New York Jets are not close to deciding on a starting quarterback and he won't make that call until he feels ''100 percent comfortable.'' Mark Sanchez, the incumbent trying to revive his career, and Geno Smith, the hotshot rookie, are competing for the job this offseason. Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg recently suggested he hoped a front...

Santonio Holmes may start training camp on the PUP list

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan told the media today that wide receiver Santonio Holmes may start training camp on the physically unable to perform list Rex Ryan says there's a "possibility" that Santonio Holmes could start training camp on the PUP list (LisFranc surgery). #nyj — Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) June 5, 2013 Holmes is still recovering from Lisfranc...

Rex Ryan’s Grand Experiment: The Flexible Front Seven?

Our 285-pound backer? Honestly, I can’t muster enough energy to talk about Sanchez and quarterbacks. The most intriguing thing for me about this Jets team is the experiment taking place on Rex Ryan’s defense. Specifically, with the front seven. For anyone who’s watched this squad over the years, it’s clear Ryan can coach defense. And the Jets defensive units have been solid...

Where will Sheldon Richardson be used on Jets' defensive line? 'Everywhere'

Rookie Sheldon Richardson is readying himself for Rex Ryan's defensive line. That mean's he's preparing to post up anywhere, and...“Everywhere,” Richardson told NewYorkJets.com's Eric Allen of his work in OTAs. “A little end, a little three tech(nique), a little nose, shade, all that… The only thing I haven’t done yet is play rush, so I pretty much have...

Rex Ryan: Jets Not Close to Naming Starting QB

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said Wednesday that the Jets are not close to naming a starting quarterback just yet. “I don’t believe we’re close to that right now,” Ryan told the media after practice Wednesday. “Obviously, we don’t have to make that move right now. Until we feel 100 percent comfortable with that decision, we’ll leave it to competition.” The open...

Jets’ Santonio Holmes could start year on PUP list

New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes has been recovering from a Lisfranc injury – a fracture in his foot – after undergoing surgery to repair the fracture in October. Now, coach Rex Ryan told Seth Walder of The New York Daily News that there’s a chance Holmes starts the season on the team’s physically unable to perform (PUP) list. “Of course Santonio, we’ll see...

Daily Haze: The Obligatory Offseason Tim Tebow Post, And Why Is He Still Being Drafted?

Tim Tebow fanboys had much more fun last summer. ESPN descended upon Jets’ training camp last summer, providing daily hourly coverage in the battle between Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez for starting quarterback job. The coverage was, in a word, ridiculous. Tebow never won the job and had zero positive impact on the football field in 2012. Except for maybe this funny moment: Tebow...

Jets LB Quinton Coples: Rob Gronkowski Is No Problem To Cover

Quinton Coples is making the switch from defensive end to linebacker for the New York Jets, and with the switch is a new bravado we’ve never seen from Coples before. Coples was asked by the New York Daily News about dealing with tight ends in the division like former teammate Dustin Keller, and most importantly Patriots star Rob Gronkowski. Coples didn’t shy away from the challenge...

Rob Gronkowski, Dustin Keller Can Be Covered, According to Jets Linebacker Quinton Coples

Quinton Coples is making the transition from defensive end to outside linebacker this year, but he already appears to be pretty confident in his skills in the new role. The 6-foot-6, 285-pound pass rusher thinks covering new Dolphins tight end Dustin Keller and Rob Gronkowski will be no problem for him and the Jets. In fact, he makes it sound simple. “Dustin Keller? I wouldn...

Mark Sanchez Doesn’t Know Names of His Receivers at Jets OTAs

With wide receivers Santonio Holmes, Stephen Hill and Jeremy Kerley all recovering from injuries, Mark Sanchez doesn’t know much about the receivers he’s been throwing to at Jets OTAs. He might start by learning their names. Sanchez has been throwing passes to five entirely new receivers during organized team activities over the past few weeks, and he doesn’t even know their...

Jets' makeshift WR situation not aiding QB bout

BY NICK ST. DENISWhile Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith battle over the New York Jets' lone starting quarterback job, they're depending on a random hodgepodge of receivers to help their respective cases. (photo: Billtacular, Flickr)Gang Green has been without their No. 1 wideout during OTAs. They're also missing their No. 2 this week. Oh, and their No. 3 and No. 4 options...
