"I think we've still got our best baseball ahead of us." (Stephen Strasburg, via MASN postgame, 7/7/2013) Nationals 11, Padres 7: Pigs fly, cats and dogs live in peace, a snowball fight in hell, and Stephen Strasburg gets some run support. Last time out, Stephen Strasburg made it clear he didn't want to answer any more questions about run support. On Sunday, Stras didn't seem to mind so much (his postgame interview on MASN is here). Don't look now, but just a few days removed from Davey Johnson's looney-bin comments, the Nats offense is rolling... Four over .500, four back of the Braves... So Bryce Harper has accepted an invitation to participate in the Home Run Derby at the All-Star game next week. Raise your hand if you're worried that he'll hurt himself somehow and/or mess up his swing forever! Oh well, his brother Bryan doesn't seem worried: Can’t wait to watch Bryce in the HR Derby!! Bryce Harper might be in the 2013 Home Run Derby

According to this tweet I saw this morning from James Wagner of the Washington Post: Bryce Harper says he was asked to participate in the home run derby. Hasn’t given answer yet. Wouldn’t tip his hand. Will answer tonight. — James Wagner (@JamesWagnerWP) July 7, 2013 I’ve always wanted to see a guy like Adam Dunn in the Home Run Derby, and I’m probably never going to get...

At last, the Washington Nationals' lineup is starting to click. In related news, Davey Johnson's squad is closer to first place than it has been in over six weeks. Stephen Strasburg (5-6) allowed four...

Bryce Harper Ran Into The Wall As Tribute To Babe Ruth, Probably

Everyone knows Bryce Harper wears 34 because Mickey Mantle wore 7, right? (Three plus four equals seven, you see.) Well, what people don’t know is that Harper also ran into the wall at Dodger Stadium two months ago because Babe Ruth did the same thing in Washington, D.C. 79 years ago. (Again, probably.) Here Babe Ruth is knocked out by collision with Griffith Stadium DC wall, playing...

Bryce Harper is an All-Star Starter

Bryce Harper was elected by the fans to start in his first All-Star game today, becoming the youngest player since Ken Griffey Jr. made the lineup in 1990. The real good read, though; is one that will tug on your heart strings. Harper spent time with a terminally ill young man yesterday prior to the Nationals game. For all the talk about Bryce Harper being a bad guy when he entered...

Bryce Harper will participate in the Home Run Derby

Bryce Harper is no stranger to home run hitting contests, and now he’ll take aim at the biggest home run contest of all at the All Star Game held at Citi Field. Harper was selected by David Wright to a team that includes Wright, Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer. Michael Cuddyer? Well why the Hell is he part of the Home Run Derby? He’s boring as a chicken dinner. The reason...

Just a few hours after sweeping the San Diego Padres, the Washington Nationals added a little depth to their bench by trading for right handed hitting outfielder Scott Hairston.
