CLEMSON, S.C. -- Clemson coach Dabo Swinney says his ninth-ranked Tigers are more even with No. 3 Florida State than the lopsided score in Saturday's meeting indicates.
Swinney said Tuesday after watching film of the 51-14 trouncing, he believes if the teams played 10 times, "We'd probably win five, they'd probably win five."
Swinney says he isn't taking away from the Seminoles' dominating performance. Florida State put up a record number of points for opponents at Death Valley. And while Swinney says there were a couple of areas the Seminoles "were a bit ahead" of his Tigers, he believes Florida State just caught Clemson on a bad night.
Clemson and Florida State aren't scheduled to play again until next season.
The Tigers (6-1, 4-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) play at Maryland (5-2, 1-2) Saturday.
BEST OF MAXIM

They got lucky, and Dabo Swinney is alright with that.
I mean that’s what I’m assuming.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State tailback James Wilder Jr. will miss Saturday's game against NC State, coach Jimbo Fisher said.
Wilder suffered a concussion in the first half of Florida State's 51-14 win over Clemson on Saturday.
He was very close (to being able to play)," Fisher said. They re-examined him today. You can't risk those things."
Bobby Bowden believes the Florida State football program is in such a good place that he is returning to campus two years before he planned to be back.
The NCAA's all-time wins leader was leery of hanging around the program and wanted coach Jimbo Fisher to have time to establish his own identity and foundation.
Bowden now feels that time has come.
The third-ranked Seminoles...
Oregon is ranked #3 behind Alabama and Florida State in the first release of the BCS rankings. There has been a lot of talk lately about the Florida State Seminoles since the BCS poll named them the No. 2 team in the nation instead of the Oregon Ducks. Are the Seminoles for real? Are they better than the high-powered offense led by Heisman trophy favorite Marcus Mariota?
