Mark Teixeira will move his rehab program to Tampa on Monday when the New York Yankees hit the road for the final time in the regular season. "It's still tight, still sore; it is what it is," the first baseman said of his strained left calf. "It's not like you can play through it -- I tried -- so we just have to be a little bit smarter about it. I'm going to Tampa on Monday to be able to start ramping up baseball activity, and we'll just take it day by day." The plan is to have him participate in instructional league games in Florida. Although the team is hoping to have the first baseman back late next week in Toronto, Teixeira isn't making any predictions. "I don't want to put any timetable on it because we tried to do that last time, and it kind of put unwanted pressure on everybody," Teixeira said. "We all wanted me to be back as soon as possible, and I wasn't ready. I'm just going to take it day by day, and when the doctors tell me that I'm clear, when the trainers tell me that I'm clear, when the strength coach and baseball people all say, 'You look normal, you're running fine,' then I'll be out there playing." Teixeira missed 10 games after suffering the Grade 1 strain, returning on Sept. 8 in Baltimore. He aggravated the injury during that contest, sending him back to the bench for a minimum of 10 to 14 days. "I think you just have to make sure that he's ready," manager Joe Girardi said. "I think it's been 12 days so far, and he hasn't done a whole lot. He hasn't really run, he really hasn't done anything outside at this point. Last time he had been doing some things. He'll go to Tampa, and we'll see if we can get our player back." Casey McGehee played first base Monday in Teixeira's absence, and he went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run in the Yankees' 10-7 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
