Found October 08, 2013 on Football Nation:
I want to be the first person to say that I was a buyer of the Atlanta Falcons for the 2013 season. I wrote an article a few months ago about them becoming a Super Bowl contender and maybe winning it all. Now looking at their progression and record the only thing you can do is be in disbelief at how they went from a high-powered offense to a team with a record of 1-4.Head coach Mike Smith has come out with frustration but he says that his team isn’t discouraged. I don’t believe that whatsoever because this was a team with high expectations to win the Super Bowl this year. Quarterback Matt Ryan has become ice-cold as a leader of this team and has made some big plays in the fourth quarter in past seasons. This season just looks so different and I don’t know what this team is going to do going forward but no offense to the New York Jets but they shouldn’t have lost to them. This game was for the taking and it would have turned their season around. As we all know in sports it’s just the ...

Harry Douglas, Drew Davis fantasy players to pick up after Julio Jones injury

While we are certainly hoping for the best for Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones and his injured foot, it appears likely that the former Alabama star is going to miss the remainder of the 2013 season. Fellow wide receiver Roddy White has been dealing with a high ankle sprain all season and suffered a […]

Atlanta Falcons news: Who is to blame for Monday’s loss?

In case you missed this week’s edition of Monday Night Football, the Atlanta Falcons had an absolutely dismal game against the New York Jets, which concluded on a 43 yard field goal by Nick Folk that gave the Jets, who came into the matchup as ten point underdogs according to ESPN, a surprising 30-28 victory, dropping one of the favorites to reach Super Bowl XLVIII to 1-4 on the...

Julio Jones Out for the Season With Foot Injury

Wow this is a shocking blow to the Atlanta Falcons playoff hopes, and my Dollarnaire fantasy football chances. The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that Falcons star wide receiver Julio Jones will miss the remainder of the regular season with a foot injury. #Falcons WR Julio Jones to be out for season with a foot injury, according to team. Coach Smith will address at 2:30...

Falcons have no plans to trade Tony Gonzalez

The Atlanta Falcons will not trade tight end Tony Gonzalez. With the Falcons sitting at 1-4 questions had begun to pop up about the status of Gonzalez going forward. Falcons head coach Mike Smith does not envision the Falcons getting rid of Gonzalez. “That’s preposterous,” Smith said, via ESPN. “He’s an integral part of our offense — and will continue to be — to the...

Falcons injury update: Roddy White '50-50, at best' to play Week 7

We learned yesterday that Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones could be done for the remainder of the season after suffering a foot injury during Monday's loss to the New York Jets. It now looks like the Falcons could also be without their other Pro Bowl wide out, Roddy White. Jason Cole of the National Football Post believes White is "50-50, at best" to suit...

Atlanta Falcons: 2013 Week 6 NFL Power Rankings (#19)

Last week: 18 (-1) Record: 1-4 I had the Falcons at 8 wins before the season, but the sheer amount of injuries they’ve suffered have made even that really optimistic. Kroy Biermann and Julio Jones are out for the season. Sean Weatherspoon is out for most of the season. Steven Jackson is still out, while Roddy White’s injuries have gotten worse as a hamstring injury has been added...

Roddy White, Julio Jones active for Falcons

The Falcons won't have much help up front against the Jets on Monday night but they will have plenty of receiving options as both Roddy White and Julio Jones are active for Atlanta. Joining them on the field will be cornerback Asante Samuel. The most critical missing piece is left tackle Sam Baker (and Steven Jackson though he was expected to be out all along). Along with Baker...

Mike Smith: “That’s preposterous that Tony would be traded”

Everyone seems to believe that trading tight end Tony Gonzalez would make sense for the Falcons,  except head coach Mike Smith and of course Gonzalez himself. “That’s preposterous that Tony would be traded,” Smith told “He’s an integral part of our offense and has been since he’s been here. And he’s having another Hall of Fame season. “In my mind, the last...

Report: Roddy White “50-50, at best” to play in Week Seven

The Atlanta Falcons are spiraling really fast after being besieged by several huge injuries since the season started. According to Jay Glazer, the Falcons are concerned that stud WR Julio Jones may be out for the season with a foot injury. Falcons fear Julio Jones' season is over

The Atlanta Falcons lost wide receiver Roddy White to a hamstring injury during last night's disappointing contest against the New York Jets, but fellow wide out Julio Jones also exited the game with a foot injury.
