With the news today that the Big East and Catholic 7 are officially going to split in July, we are going to need to name a new conference. The Catholic 7 schools have agreed to buy the title “Big East” for $100 million, so it will be up to remaining (old) Big East schools to find a name.
Yesterday, it appeared that “America 12” might be the future conference name, but Big East commissioner Mike Aresco insisted that no name has been decided and that all options are still on the table.
Then, CBS writer Jeremy Fowler reported that the Big East may turn to social media for helping naming the new conference (just like the Big Ten once did) :

Of course, suggestions immediately started to flow in:

If the Big East names itself the “America 12,” it’ll finally make the sentence “I hate America” socially acceptable.
