Dodgers Locker:
The Dodgers have designated 38-year old lefty swinging outfielder Garret Anderson for assignment. Anderson played in 80 games for the Dodgers this year and he was 28 of 155 (.181 avg, .475 OPS) with 8 runs scored, 2 homers, 12 RBIs and 1 stolen base. The Dodgers have promoted 33-year old lefty swinging outfielder Jay Gibbons to replace Anderson on the active roster. Gibbons made his debut last night for the Dodgers getting a run scoring single on his only at bat. Gibbons played in 94 games in AAA-ball this year and he was 122 of 352 (.347 avg, .969 OPS) with 60 runs scored, 19 homers and 83 RBIs. Gibbons has played in 779 games in his major league career coming into this year and he was 724 of 2,787 (.260 avg, .768 OPS) with 348 runs scored, 121 homers and 405 RBIs. This has been a long road back for Gibbons after he was named in the Mitchell Report and I hope he does well this time around.
