The Brooklyn Nets released their preseason schedule today and guess who’s on it?
Yup, the Celtics will visit the Barclays Center on October 15. Brooklyn is scheduled to play at the Garden on October 23.
Will KG and Paul Pierce really make their emotional return to Boston in the preseason?
Don’t bet on it.
ESPN Boston’s Chris Forsberg doubts either will make the trip.
That’s a moment for a prime time national audience.

Last week, our own Mark Vandeusen had this crazy idea that the Celtics should try to trade Jordan Crawford. Seems like it was a good one, as CSNNE's A. Sherrod Blakely's sources tell him that Danny Ainge could have the same thought.
Jay King, MassLive.com:
According to CSNNE.com, Jordan Crawford could be a casualty of the shooting guard depth. A. Sherrod Blakely reported...
Colton Iverson, the bruising center selected by the Celtics in the second round of this year’s draft, is going to Turkey.
Boston Celtics draft pick Colton Iverson has signed with Besiktas of the Turkish League, the team announced Friday.
The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn reportedthat Iverson signed a contract for two years with an out after the first season. One source with...
Fab Melo attracted far too much attention as a rookie.
This might sound harsh, but the 23-year-old center out of Syracuse was not ready for the NBA last season, no matter how many games of eye-popping blocked shots totals he boasted in the D-League. That didn’t stop fans and reporters alike from hounding coach Doc Rivers about the possibility to bringing up Melo whenever the Celtics...
The Brooklyn Nets announced their upcoming preseason schedule yesterday, which includes two matchups with the Celtics. Here's the graphic from their website:
Obviously the game that stands out is October 23rd in Boston. As I've discussed before, Pierce and Garnett's first game back is going to be an incredibly emotional experience. If you're thinking it...
This column will be the last time I ever use the word “tank” in association with the Boston Celtics. I for one am sick and tired of hearing the “t” word used in regards to this storied and proud franchise. Enough already! Or as one of my favorite movie characters “Lefty” would say “fuggetaboutit.” I’ve noticed that the “t” word is predominately used by younger...
A.B. ESPN Boston columnist, (and one of my favorite writers) Jackie MacMullan, wrote an awesome tribute yesterday remembering the life of Boston Celtics star, Reggie Lewis, who died during practice at the age of 27.
The entire article is worth reading, but here are some of the highlights:
By the time [Lewis] died, he was one of six players who, from 1988-93, posted at least 7,500...
Imagine your favorite basketball player is Rajon Rondo. You love absolutely everything about him from the thread-the-needle passes to the fact that his picture proudly graces the top of Celticslife (along with Larry Bird). You're young and impressionable and Rajon can't do any wrong. Now imagine, if on your birthday of all days, he suddenly dies. How crushed would...

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
The scouting report from those who have watched Faverani overseas is nearly universal: a skilled and athletic offensive player but a question mark on the defensive end.
That’s confirmed by the advanced stats...
Phil Pressey has an impressive college resume, an NBA bloodline and now he’s a Celtic.
The Boston Celtics made two new additions to their team, signing free-agent deals with Phil Pressey and Vitor Faverani. Both are undrafted rookies, and as such, they are far from the dominant news in the NBA offseason. But on a rebuilding team, you don’t know where your next gem(s) is going...

Marshon Brooks will have a second go-around with the Boston Celtics.
Brooks, who played with the Providence College Friars, has been relative to me for a long time as I was a season ticket holder up until his junior year at PC. Every player has their strengths and weaknesses, but Brooks’ upsides outweigh his downsides.
Colton Iverson has signed a two-year contract with Turkish club Besitkas.
Iverson was drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 53d pick of last month’s draft.
The Celtics still own the rights to Iverson, who averaged 5 points and 5.4 rebounds in five games at the Las Vegas summer league.
At the end of last season when Doc finally gave into the Free Shav movement for the final 10 games, Shavlik Randolph grabbed every rebound in sight. The late season acquisition showed significant ability to rebound the basketball, grabbing 26.3% of all available defensive rebounds and 22.4% of all caroms overall. Those were the best numbers on the team, but mind you it was in small...
From HoopsHype Rumors:

Just warms the cockles of my heart. Looks like the “Haves” are capped out, with
aging/declining stars, and a dearth of young talent. The megabucks mavens are going to have a hard...
Is John Wall a better player than Stephen Curry or Rajon Rondo?
You might not think so, but the Wizards seem to believe that, and that’s what’s important. Yahoo Sports is reporting that The Wizards and John Wall are close to agreeing to a five-year $80 million extension.
Y! Sources: John Wall, Wizards progressing toward completion of 5 year, $80 million contract extension...
